Forced to choose, is a QB or HC more important to the success of the team.

what if, by tanking, you make the team look like a less desirable situation for the best available HC candidate?

is it more important to get the right QB or the right HC?

yeah, i know you can get both and money will be a big draw, but forced to choose, which would you say is more important for the future of the franchise? QB or HC?

Head coach forsure. Drafting a QB high does not guarantee he will be a franchise player. Imagine if we tanked on purpose and drafted someone like Zach Wilson with the 1st or 2nd pick. Even Trevor Lawerence looks suspect. He's having a better year than his rookie year but still doesn't quite look like a #1 pick could be better in the future though. Zach Wilson looks horrible though and It'd feel pretty bad if our top 3 pick at QB plays as bad as he has

Well weren’t there candidates that refused to even interview last time? And I know a lot of refused to interview for really bad teams like the Texans and Browns. I also know coaches like Payton (no we aren’t getting him but) said he would not go to a bad situation and I believe these kinds of coaches have choices.

Generally I think the idea is overblown, but this is once again just another side effect of Tepper running this poo into the ground into being the new modern Browns. There really is a difference going to a bad team situation and a dysfunctional franchise situation.

If I was a candidate I sure as hell would at least have demands after witnessing what this trash organization just went through and then have Tepper turn around and still think he needs to be involved. Not to mention the possibility of strapping you to a GM that is also an idiot.

    • So we have a pretty tough schedule for the remainder of the season.  I believe I saw where it's the toughest remaining schedule in the league.  To even think about the playoffs we IMO have to, at minimum, win three of the remaining six.  49ers - We will have to play an amazing game to win this one.  We are down to backups at LB (at least for now) and Kittle is probably going to have a big day.  CMC must not go off on us.  PFF had a pregame analysis and actually the two guys running the show were split on who wins.  They even said it was disrespectful to the Panthers to be 7pt underdog.  Evero is going to have to have a great gameplan.   I'm on the fence but this game is in SF and I think we lose. Rams - We're at home that is about the only advantage I see in this game.  LA is one of the best offenses in the league and I just don't think we have the firepower to beat them.  The only way we win is if we can control the clock and keep LA's offense off the field. Saints - We have to go into this game on a mission.  WE HAVE TO WIN THIS GAME.  Hopefully, Canales has a better gameplan and we win.  This is a very winnable game. TB x 2 - The only chance, IMO, of winning the NFCS is we have to win both games.  Many talking heads say TB is faltering some and can be had.  By week 15 and 17 we should be hitting on all cylinders.  If we win, it's going to have to be a pretty mistake free. Seahawks - they have a very tough defense, and I think we get shut down.  Our only hope is to pressure Darnold into mistakes like he did this past weekend with 4 INTs.  As with the Rams we are going to have to keep this a low scoring game. My hope is  49ers- Win Rams - Loss Saints - Win Bucs@Home - Win Seattle - Loss Bucs@TB - Loss 9-8 Record My Fear 49ers-Loss Rams-Loss Saints-Win Bucs@home - Loss Seahawks - Loss Bucs@TB - Loss 7-10 record
    • With Motons deal (stupid), Hunt, Lewis and Mayes and Icky upcoming our line is going to be the most expensive again in the nfl.   Its going to be an interesting snap shot if this type of team building works.
    • We have an easy out after this season with marginal dead cap. Could be smart given the situation and RB landscape.  This part isn’t at you—but in general: None of these guys are world beaters — sure they have been great for us at times but I just hope we don’t get this emotional investment paired with financials. I don’t think we need to teget all antsy about keeping Dowdle when he’ll be 28 next year. I don’t mind just continuously taking a stab in the late rounds every year on one.  We should not be investing in one guy in particular when they’re not really a game breaker. See: Sanders, Hubbard, etc.  I’d say heck yes, take a shot at a guy high up if you’re convinced you’ve landed a Gibbs or Taylor level, but otherwise, don’t invest, don’t get emotional about a 3-4 game stretch. Reset and see what type of committee you can construct with fresh legs.
