Our defensive staff is literally:

Al Holcomb- DC

Don Johnson- Pass Rush Specialist

Mike Siravo- Defensive Run Game Coordinator

Losing all the Rhule trash has only improved the results on the field. What were any of the departed coaches actually contributing to the team?

Honestly I feel this will just further cement Wilks being given a shot. He's legitimately working with a hand behind his back in terms of coaching staff and personnel that were handed to him, give me a legit OC and his leadership and watch this team flourish.

I've been watching the Nebraska fan reactions with some amusement. They sound a lot like we did one Rhule was hired here.

There are celebrants, doubters, supporters, detractors, doom and gloomers,  rationalizers, skeptics and believers all jockeying to get their word out ASAP.

Me? I'm just gonna grab some popcorn and watch what happens 😄

That would be my thought too. If they are so linked to Rhule that they want to follow him, let them go.  We don’t want them anyway.

I don't blame them. They were almost certainly gone from here at the end of the season anyway. They were dead men walking and Rhule needs to fill those roles ASAP because he's gotta get to recruiting.

Jeez sounds like Nebraska is opening up that check book..

I guess they really think he'll make Nebraska relevant again

They are desperate, and I don't say that because they bought into The Process.  They went from a powerhouse program consistently in the yearly discussion of national championship contenders to an also-ran in the also-ran division of the Big10.

I don't think Rhule can get them back into the annual championship discussion, but he probably can keep them in the mix at the top of the Big10 west, even when USC and UCLA join......assuming the conference keeps divisions.  But I don't see anything in his record that says he is going to suddenly dethrone Ohio State, Michigan, or even Penn State as the conference kings.

That level of success will brighten the mood in Lincoln, but I doubt they stay there without challenging and sometimes successfully hunting bigger game.  We don't know that Rhule can't eventually do that, only that he never has.

Good luck to Nebraska.  My guess is they are going to be grumbling again somewhere around 4-6 years from now.

As far as his remaining staff leaving, they have 4-6 years of job security in Lincoln and if he does make them relevant again, more after that somewhere.

I wouldn't' be so down on him if he had shown amount of accountability or self-awareness during his time here. Dude just came across as not thinking he was a big part of the problem, even if he did actually realize that.

Exactly. Thus far the ceiling for Rhule on his best day has been double digit wins over bad college teams and getting pounded by any legit team. So big 10 west title seems about right.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
