he was a fool and I cant believe anyone here has actually attempted to defend him at any point past the day he cut Steve Smith. The Norman franchise tag saga completely soured me on him and then Ron benching cam for not wearing a tie was when I soured on RR. 2016 fuging sucked.

Gettleman's biggest issue as a GM was his ego. He always had to feel like he "won" a situation even if it meant fuging over the team. As long as he got his way and stuck it to the other party.  Hitting home runs on his bargain free agent acquisitions and riding that to a SB appearance made him grossly overestimate his ability to do that on a regular basis moving forward. He was a flash in the pan.

Probably won't lose much by signing him. We really need a CB with some kind of competency given Horns injury and the poor or inconsistent performance of just about every other CB on our roster.

I just have no idea what his abilities are at this point... I haven't paid attention to his career after his stint with the Redskins, he definitely didn't make any major headlines after that point.

35 is getting up there in age and I dont think he was ever known for freakish athletic ability either. So I'm genuinely curious what he could provide to the team. There's no way he's anywhere near the same player now as he was in 2015.

Someone that went to a Super Bowl and former All-Pro vs someone on the roster that couldn’t start on Bama this year? We have safety help to protect a 35yr olds speed but we don’t have anyone to help with inexperienced CB.

At this point in the season with two must wins, experience over athletic ability every time. Tom Brady will destroy a bunch of 3rd sting CB. Dalton has been around the league a long time and while he might be able to fool starting CB’s…we don’t have any.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to point out, I still have no fuging idea why we didn't pull some Fitt Magic and acquire an additional 4th or 5th rounder and take Woolen in addition to Mays at that point. Just from the measurables, I would've been comfortable with us taking him in the 3rd if that's how our picks were set up. But in the 4th or a 5th, that was a homerun pick in my mind, and I felt that way BEFORE the draft, again just from a measurables and potential standpoint.

As expected.  Wilks was talking about him like he was already on the roster and how they planned to implement him during the presser.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
