People, like 75% of the huddle, were saying this last year too, and that Darnold was the issue, and the oline was fine.

This year it could’ve been true.

But I’d add we just need another dline playmaker.

This team loves to give opposing QBs all day long and that will get you destroyed in the playoffs.

Sam was an issue but the oline was definitely not fine last season.   WTF, man?  😂

If anything, the oline is eons better this season than it was last (Bozeman has been a revelation).

And as far as dline playmakers go, yeah I agree.

But how about we have a Head Coach that won't make STUPID DECISIONS on Defense to prevent long-bombs for TDs being thrown?

How about Jaycee Horn try to stay healthy for entire season...FOR A CHANGE?

Which is why the time is now to go get your guy

At some point all these guys are going to need to be paid. Burns is up now. Brown next.

Go out and get your QB this offseason while you still have 4 seasons of Ekwonu’s rookie deal left

5 year rookie QB contract + 4 years left on a rookie LT contract… that puts you in a fantastic spot. Add in the fact we have a good OL and other important positions covered… those are reasons for optimism

Kiper just said that our young guy is going to be Tanner McKee at pick 8….

That's just not what the data shows at all.

Of the 5 coaches who showed the worst improvement in winning percentage from pre-to-post interim, 3 of them had top 5 best winning % in future records.

Only 1 coach who showed top 5 best improvement from pre-to-post interim had a top 5 winning % in future records: Jason Garrett. The other four coaches who showed the best improvement ended up in the bottom 6 winning % in future records.

If anything, you might be better off hiring the interim coach who does the worst with his team.

After a deeper dive I want to modify my earlier thoughts. What the data shows to me is that interim coaches dont win that much. And that there is not a correlation between interim record and later success  Not many interim coaches turned around a team and if they did the future results were mixed. Likewise a few of the successful coaches later on had a poor interim record. So overall interim coaches win at around a .47 win rate in the future. Not great. What if we hire a rookie head coach versus hiring  a previous head coach like Harbaugh? This article only covers year 1 and not subsequent years but this suggests that hiring a rookie coach or a veteran  with a new team results in a winning percentage of .45 that year. And that rookie head coaches have a slightly lower win percentage but are 41% more likely to guide them in the playoffs in their rookie year.  Again there seems to be feast and famine

https://www.the33rdteam.com/category/breakdowns/deep-dive-evaluating-success-rate-for-first-year-head-coaches/

One conclusion is that it takes time to turn around a team and whoever the coach is will be lucky to get us to 8-8.  And data on new hires is a mixed bag and not very definitive.  Someone may have more data about subsequent years winning rate for retreads versus new coaches. I suspect it is situation specific with limited generalizability (if that is a word).

Oh I’ve seen a bunch, I’m just leaning into how off the wall that mock was from Kiper.

Kiper saying that means 100 percent it won’t be Tanner lol

Remember the 1st round TE he kept mocking us year after year for a long time? Good times

Saying it was actually true this season implies that it was not true last season.

    • Never been. Going to a concert there Thursday night. Decent tailgating opportunities in the parking area or no? I see people are going to the beer hall to grab a beer to get their parking validated. Seems like a good plan to me. I'd like to smoke a brisket and do a decent spread of food but I just don't know if the parking setup allows for it.

    • Bryce also has a degree in psychology. He has an uncanny ability to compartmentalize things in a way that allows him to enter his second NFL season with optimism that he can still be the player who was worthy of being the No. 1 pick of the 2023 draft despite the kind of rookie year that has destroyed others in his position. Young credits that in part to his past. He graduated from the University of Alabama in three years with a degree in psychology. His father was a therapist in the mental health field for 20 years. His mother was a special education teacher, and his grandfather was a psychologist. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/40334565/bryce-young-developing-leader-panthers-year-2
