I really don’t see Payton going to Denver and he’s using that spot as leverage for LA or Arizona.

He's not going to Denver. Whatever comp they would've given to NO is with Seattle. If he goes anywhere it's to Phoenix. They'll send this year's and next year's first to NO, who needs it since they don't have one.

They have SF’s first round pick this year from the Chubb trade to Miami. It’s already been stated by Rap that Saints won’t even let teams interview Payton unless they agree to their trade demands.

Fair enough, but Arizona can't enter the picture until Monday and Denver can't beat Arizona's potential compensation. A potential pick between 3 and 5 this year is way better than maybe 28-32 and gives NO an even better slot than if they had their own pick this year.

We all know that Loomis' real last name is Lucky. If AZ wants Payton, it's like no harm, no foul for him regarding their lost pick.

Then they probably either use the AZ pick on Stroud or trade the pick to another QB-desperate team (like us) and take Johnston after maybe signing Carr.

This isn’t up to the Saints or Loomis, it all depends on where Payton wants to go. He can just as easily retire again if he’s traded to a destination he doesn’t see as a good fit. At this point, it’s all lining up to Denver.

Tepper could offer him more

Could, but will he?  Tepper already shoveled out a poo ton to a failed head coach.  Denver's new ownership is eager to throw money at someone, as reported, so money is no object.  They want THE BEST guy (in their minds) for the job.  They will not settle for the #2 guy.  In other words, if it comes down to a bidding war between Denver's ownership and Tepper if they want the same guy, it could get VERY pricey.

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
