Tampa moving on from Leftwich?

He is having a really bad year. I don't think brining him here is really a positive at this point or if Wilks would want to work with him after their time together in Arizona.

He needs to pull a Brady and go work for someone good for a bit at a lesser potion to try and pull it all together.

Byron Leftwich hype has peaked. He had his moments but like most TB12 coaches , those moments were gone in a blink of an eye. BL may be a QB coach elsewhere, possibly a 2nd chance OC but he just isn’t a HC. The only way I can see BL getting a HC is a bridge job like Smith with the Texans.

Ā

also, Im pretty sure O’Brien is going to end up with Bill B this off-season. They are really close and NE needs an OC bad.

You don't believe in the offensive genius of Matt Patricia? šŸ˜•

Agree about Leftwich, and I was never that big on his hype anyway (too inexperienced) but Wilks reaching out to him If he were to become available is a scenario I could definitely see.

Leftwich is garbage.Ā  I never got the hype behind him.Ā  His offenses could never run the ball and don't give me that "running isn't important" mumbo jumbo.Ā  Sure it shouldn't be the main way you move the ball but you need teams to respect your run game.Ā  And Bucs' run game hasĀ sucked every year.

Leftwich has benefited greatly from Tom Brady.Ā Ā

Running should be the main way you move the ball. It's the preferred way to move the ball if you can do it effectively. Why would anyone want to do otherwise?

I'm not going to play the semantics game here.Ā  I meant it in a sense that the passing game is more important, which I think everyone can agree on.Ā  But, as I said in my post, you still need to have an effective run game.Ā  And Leftwich has never established one.

    • You would hope so. I’m confused why the sports world seems split on Bryce when he’s obviously not working out.Ā
    • So let’s do the reverse? Make everyone agree everything he does is a disaster? I also think the whole ā€œgaslightingā€ is on the eye of the beholder. It went from he can’t avoid one single sack countered with he actually did that well Sunday (with data backing it) to a little breakdown of why he is so bad. People are going to have different opinions. I’m also not going to pretend this wasn’t happening Day one with this little QB.Ā
    • All this great stuff he has done, how often does he do it? Ā I have it at three or four games out of 14 where he was very good and then you get a drive here or a series there where there are some good things. Here is the gaslight part: everyone has put him on a curve with his first year the baseline, neglecting to understand how bad he was then. Even if he comes back twice as good, where does that really leave him? 25th ranked or thereabouts. Ā  Ā  He had so far to go, and still does, it is a Major ā€˜settle’ to accept his play as worthy of giving him our future.Ā  You want to settle when the Bucs have Mayfield, and the Saints have overtaken us at QB? We will be third in the division at QB. That is good enough for y’all? Ā
