You don't play sports to lose. The Texans rallied in the fourth quarter to "lose" the #1 pick today. No one cares about draft position except fans.

That’s because teams know that draft picks are never a sure thing to be great.

What about all the articles that come out that reference FO personnel, coaches, and players that have stated examples of franchises not playing to win for draft picks including the recent Dolphin scenario? I assume you’re saying they’re liars?

Ask that to Bears fans who are celebrating.  Most cap space in the NFL and now can auction off the #1 pick to the highest bidder if they choose so. You think the Bears care about a few meaningless wins.

Yeah Bears “fans.”  They’re coming off a 3 win season and haven’t won a playoff game in 12 years. They drafted a QB top 5 with trubisky. How did that work out? They won 3 less games this year with fields in year 2. Wanting to lose games is for losing franchises and fans who don’t have a clue how teams are built. I’ll let the front office figure out QB and enjoy wins.

    • Yuck.  I still kind of like Herbert but these playoff performances are rough....
    • I feel like this was the case with River and McDermott defenses as well, we just had the jimmies and the joes to overcome these deficiencies with all pro players at edge and linebacker positions.  Even then, was extremely frustrated in 2015 when we'd let team come back from 20+ pt deficits playing prevent only to barely win at the end.
    • We need to move on soon and just use Bryce as a bridge to find our next guy. I'd like to see how this offense works with Canales hand picking his own guy. Bryce holds this offense back a lot considering you draft the first pick to carry your team and be your best player. We invested heavily for Bryce and need everything to go right just to have him look like a solid game manager sometimes. When he plays well he can look decent or mid, but when he plays bad he looks like a bottom 5 qb in league (backups included). It's not worth it, especially if we need to pay him soon, which means we have to skimp all over the roster. If the defenses don't hand it to us on a silver platter Atlanta style then we struggle big time. Defenses don't respect the offense at all. With Cam we could have the worst offensive talent and I'd still think we had a shot in any game we played. If Bryce is facing a 3rd and 10 I pretty much wave the white flag and don't think we can make that first down.
