His style of coaching isn't in vogue right now.

Looking at the interview requests around the league, it's not hard to figure what style is.

Given all the rule changes that make playing QB much easier, it's not hard to understand why either.

Status update from Person...

Nothing official can happen until they get that second Rooney Rule interview in.

Virtually? Steichen I kind of understand as he probably wants to spend time in Philly getting ready for their divisional game, but Johnson's season is over. Why not fly him in? Expediency, or maybe waiting for the second round of interviews?

In-person interviews with outside candidates that are currently employed by NFL teams cannot be conducted until Tuesday, 1/17 per league rules.

You know Wilks wants the job and he is going into his interview equipped to sell Tepper and the others on his plan. What if and all is a big if, he has Reich as OC, Caldwell would come in as a consultant primarily for offense/ Qb, and have a committed Flores as DC. That would be a good staff.

I am not saying any of that could happen but he is going to have to have a great vision and plan to have a chance. I just don't think he has a chance because of the fact that Tepper wants and sees it needs to be a offense minded head coach

That would be a good staff, I’m just not sure it’s realistic. I can see Flores being brought in when Al and Wilkes are so close. But in theory, yes, sign me up.

Commanders fired OC Scott Turner.

Turner's offense finished 28th in offensive DVOA in 2022. He again was weighted down with a bad quarterback in Carson Wentz, one that forced the Commanders to turn to Taylor Heinicke yet again. Turner's offensive philosophy is not a bad one and he finally had enough wideouts to stress the defense this past season. He could resurface elsewhere in the NFL as an OC soon enough, but someone had to fall on the sword for this offense after three years without an empirical breakthrough.

That would be a very strong plan, I’d be all in tbh.

Curious who that is going to be. I thought it might be Demarco, but he might not be available until next month and seems like a redundant candidate to Wilks.

Can't see Bieniemy sitting back down with Tepper after he got passed over last time.

What's Pep Hamilton up to these days?

There's a name with a strong Steve Wilks connection...

Lol at the idea wilks is building this team as the hard nosed team the panthers used to be….u mean back when they finished .500 or below every other season? What a legacy to celebrate and try to emulate 🤦🏼‍♂️

    • Yuck.  I still kind of like Herbert but these playoff performances are rough....
    • I feel like this was the case with River and McDermott defenses as well, we just had the jimmies and the joes to overcome these deficiencies with all pro players at edge and linebacker positions.  Even then, was extremely frustrated in 2015 when we'd let team come back from 20+ pt deficits playing prevent only to barely win at the end.
    • We need to move on soon and just use Bryce as a bridge to find our next guy. I'd like to see how this offense works with Canales hand picking his own guy. Bryce holds this offense back a lot considering you draft the first pick to carry your team and be your best player. We invested heavily for Bryce and need everything to go right just to have him look like a solid game manager sometimes. When he plays well he can look decent or mid, but when he plays bad he looks like a bottom 5 qb in league (backups included). It's not worth it, especially if we need to pay him soon, which means we have to skimp all over the roster. If the defenses don't hand it to us on a silver platter Atlanta style then we struggle big time. Defenses don't respect the offense at all. With Cam we could have the worst offensive talent and I'd still think we had a shot in any game we played. If Bryce is facing a 3rd and 10 I pretty much wave the white flag and don't think we can make that first down.
