Playing it safe on relatively cheap investments at QB is working so well.

There are a lot of question marks with Stroud.  It would be different if he was a for sure prospect.  I'm fine with giving up a couple seconds or something but I dont like giving up next year's first when we very well could be a bad team next year even with Stroud.

If he was a "sure thing" then he'd be going #1 overall and there wouldn't be any discussion.

Oh Brugler had some minor notes about the Gibbs pick in Rd 2:

Heckuva player but I’m still not sold on that pick.

Need more explosive pass catchers in that area

As far as RB,  I’m still taking one in. Rd3-4

We all like what Foreman did and want him back.  But he was a big Wilks guy, and fit his power run scheme/identity.

New Coach, new system.  He may look elsewhere.

I'm a fan of the RBs projected in RD 3-5.

Nothing against Chubba, and we'll need to see if we re-sign Foreman, but added RBs are always welcome in those mid rounds.

One of my personal favorites to fit with those two in our backfield is Tyjae Spears.  Tulane had an awesome year mainly due to him and Michael Pratt.  His vision and quick cuts to find holes are awesome.  He capped off a sensational year dominating USC, big part of why they won.

He's like Pollard meets Herbert.  Tackle breaker, quick accelerator, quick cuts, pass catcher, home run hitter.

Ehhhhhh, IDK about that.  Kyler Murray went number 1 and hes smaller than Young.  Baker went 1 and hes not a big guy either.

Kyler Murray is shorter than young, but he is bigger than young. Young is naturally a smallish guy. Baker is bigger than young also. All you have to do is look at these guys, and you will see that Young is smaller.

That being said, someone may overlook that, and I don't believe we will have that opportunity.

I'm leaning to staying at 9 and picking BPA, if Stroud is there, that's great, if its Richardson, great, but we also need a dynamic WR and LB so I wouldn't be mad if an elite one were there

Richardson is a straight-up project. I don't see us passing up another day-one starter to draft AR.

FWIW I would much rather spend picks on a highly rated rookie than on reclaimation projects

I have a hard time viewing Lance and especially Fields as classic reclamation projects if that's where you're going. Fields is still a budding star, and Lance hasn't even been able to show what he has (two games and a fraction aren't anywhere near enough). The fact is that it's arguable that both, particularly Fields, are more talented than any prospect in this draft. There are no sure bets coming out of this draft. Just drafting a QB in the first round because he's a first rounder is not a recipe for success, regardless of how much Huddlers opine to the contrary.

    • I'd be very interested in seeing someone point me to a post saying any Panthers fans are unhappy with winning? We're happy the team is winning, but we're still unhappy with Bryce's play ON THE WHOLE. Yes, we recognize he's had a handful of good games, but even in them, he's still not making the type of plays/throws that high level QB's make, at least not on a consistent basis, one or two of those throws every few weeks does not make him a high level QB. Many of us are also able to look at what we see in front of us on the field and extrapolate that out to the future, and we don't see Bryce's play as a way for sustainable success.  If he was anyone else other than our own #1 overall draft pick, say if he was a mid rounder now in his 3rd season here or if he was a FA we picked up at some point, the same fans bowing down to him right now would be calling for him to be replaced and saying he was holding back the team.
    • I was going to add those types of throws as acceptable. I just didn't want to type all that out. In both cases it takes qb control to complete and are rare throws and completions. You may not see 1 an entire game. Most passes require adjustment due either to coverage or a rushed throw.
    • Not 2 seasons in on a guy who everyone knew needed time to round out. Maybe he will, maybe he won't, yet want everyone to have the patience of a saint for Bryce. You all are funny. Kibitzing, huh? Am i breaking up your circlefest or something?
