Well...guess Carolina was not his dream job.  He must have gotten a big raise to stay with the Lions.  But, who in the hell wants to live in Detroit any longer than they have too?

It might be, but as an adult you still have to make what you feel is the best decision.

Word is he thinks they're building "something special" up there with Campbell and crew.

You put enough zeroes at the end of a check I’ll stay anywhere…within reason.

Wow...all of the media hype was pointing to Johnson too. Gotta be Payton at this point. I doubt Johnson would back out up against Steichen.

I also think we've almost equaled the number of coaches that backed out versus ones that have formally interviewed....

Ryans, Mayo, Johnson backed out.

It's in the tea leaves..... Fangio, DC interviews, Johnson backing out. We just better hope there's no tampering involved in relation to the Rooney rule.

I think you got the same thoughts as me....seek help..

It does suddenly feel like payton put his tongue into teppers brain.

If it is payton, I bet hes the new highest paid.

why god, why?!?!

Kinda feels like “We are bringing the crew back” after a failed Super Bowl run only for that same crew to go 7-10 and miss the playoffs.

I'll say this as a high school coach. I transferred schools to become the new head football coach at a bottom feeder school - I knew nobody on the staff and had to build the staff from the ground up. Even doing that at the high school level is very intimidating and challenging. I commend Ben Johnson on not taking a cash grab and doing what probably is more comfortable and will probably be more successful (at least next year) in Detroit.

Similar thoughts from Mike Kaye...

Ed Dodds his previously said that he won't take a GM job until he feels like it's absolutely the right one.

I don’t understand this. Has he interviewed terribly or something? There’s no way he’s going back to be the OC in Detroit just for fun when he has HC offers

He only took over play calling this year. Not a fan, but compared to sean payton, who I thought is either the best or lock top 4.

He may not have the good coaching staff either. Just spit ballin.

    • Little light hearted topic.. For whatever reason Cam Newton doesn't appear in Madden ultimate team every year for whatever reason like most legends. I personally believe it's due to them robbing him of appearing on the cover of the video game series during his peak years winning NFL rookie of the year and the MVP super bowl run.  Needless to say I'm a huge Competitive Madden ultimate team player spending hours of days crunching numbers and churning roster management. When this was announced it was a lightening rod in the Madden community. Competitive players know Newton is a game changer.. Your talking fastest quarterback in the game and highest throwing power in the game when he drops. That a long with. Unheard of ability at quarterback like freight train the ability to run over linebacker and corners and I was stoked. I m ashamed to say how much money threw at the game to try to pull newton and failed  But it's a big deal seeing as every pro Madden player most certainly has to have him on their roster and the card art is pretty sweet.
    • A few different ways this can be taken depending on how you view things: Negative: This coaching staff is so inept that players are having to practically beg them to put them in situations that we as fans have been screaming for. How could David Tepper and Bryce Young do this to us? Positive: The coaches are listening to the players who are trusting the coaches! Neutral: Collaboration can lead to good things, so hopefully this starts the upward trend we've been waiting for.
    • I've been trying to tell y'all since preseason that Brycen Tremayne is the missing piece. 😛 XL, TMac, Coker, and Tremayne all dumpstering DBs when the team runs out of 10 personnel will be hilarious.
