My guy you followed Sam Darnold to a new team take a seat. We've been watching abysmal QB play for years we know it when we see it if you don't like it the door is always unlocked you don't need to say anything you can just go.

I don't really care, to be honest.

I like it here because you guys are so passionate about the team instead of apathetic.

But since you all are experts on knowing QBs who suck, then I was just wondering out loud who the next poor SAP (who will draw your ire) behind center will be?

It could be the new Vet they sign or it could be...and it's possible...the Drafted QB they take (The Draft, as always, is a crap shoot).🤷‍♂️

I’d be extremely disappointed if our first round rookie QB threw for 50 yards in a game

I'm pretty sure Fields had multiple games where he threw for under 100 yards. Yet the forum seems to think he is the next Tom Brady...

Bad games happen. He was one of the only reasons we had a chance to win the Bucs game the week before...

as long as they draft a qb who cares

It is about keep swinging for the fences.  We need to draft a rookie, develop Corral and find a veteran qb as a backup or starter until the young guys are ready.  I want a winning season this year and am doubtful that who we get in the draft no matter who it is will be ready to start day 1.

Brissett is ideal because he takes care of the ball and he will usually not LOSE you games. Bridgewater, same thing. Minshew I would be fine with but he was also the QB of arguably the best roster in the NFL this season and couldn't win a game. That’s not good. Jimmy G would be great but not likely to be in a reasonable price range. Carr is ideal but, again, not likely to be cheap.

Sounds like Brissett is the #1 Vet the Panthers could use.

But can and will they go and acquire him?

That is the question.

Man this fan base really does have PTSD. I can't believe anyone wants to see Darnold behind center for the Panthers ever again. SMDH.

It is because we don't have PTSD that we can evaluate Sam objectively. The folks with PTSD don't want him based on 2021 which carried over to negative evaluations this year that were not based on the facts. I don't think you understand what PTSD is or what it causes and yes I do.

What are you talking about? There are plenty of fact, like the last 4 years, that prove Darnold effing sucks.
Darnold was not good even during his wins. He wasn’t.
Saints game was the real Sam Darnold. The Tampa game was the real Darnold. Good lord you guys are so freaking weird.

As much as I want to disagree with you there and say that Sam is what he is (He's not a good QB at all; And there have been 4 years of proof of this, even if most of it is the incompetent Jets franchise), THIS statement (especially the bolded) does carry some truth to it.

2021 basically torpedoed any goodwill he would've had by some of the long-timers here.

As far as they're concerned, whatever he did afterward, doesn't matter nor will it ever matter because....2021 is how he will be forever defined here.

It's time to move on.

Sam still sucked in 2022 though.  58% completion on the year.  Only his rookie season was worse.

The run game was good vs bad teams.  It allowed them to minimize Sam's ability to negatively influence games.

To me the 2022 hype is just a variation of the early 2021 Sam hype.   The bad Sam is clearly still there.   He just went a tiny stretch where he didn't totally implode games.  Which is something you have always been able to cherry pick in his career.  In New York too.  Sam Darnold simply isn't a decent NFL QB.

    • Oh yeah the QB is huge in this stuff. Imagine what Smitty could have done with a surgeon back there. And some more offensive minded head coaches. It was always run heavy. He was one of the best I ever saw and people didn’t know who he was outside of Carolina, for the longest time.
    • For sure, any college scout that touted Bryce Young as worth the first overall pick, needs to be gone. I don’t think the college scouts are so much the issue, I think it is the minds of the decision makers that have the most influence.  If this draft produces, and Morgan was really in charge, maybe Tepper will develop some respect and stay back and let people work.
    • I just am not aware of regimens that offer increased velocity which is the biggest weakness I can see in Young (that needs addressing right now). Is it possible to do? Who has done it that we can see as an example? I guess I am saying before I believe weights will give him added zip on the ball, I would want proof that it works.    I think weight room would help him not be pulled down by two fingers, even if they are big strong DL fingers. They are still fingers controlling 185 lbs. So that needs to be addressed but it is a secondary issue behind his footwork and ball velocity. It might help too, in allowing him to retain some velocity while not putting 100% effort into throws. Which should help his ‘deep’ ball.  I agree they can’t fix his footwork on those pistol or gun snaps where he slowly goes backwards and does the tippy toe thing.  Maybe putting him under center and taking the option of that type of drop away from him, forcing him into the classic under center style. Drop and plant and throw. Maybe that would help get around it.
