It Might Just Be Me....

...but I dont think you go out a get a staff together like this with multiple coaches that may bail for HC positions a year from now to sit and develop a rookie QB.  That may be the plan down the road but this season will need to feature a decent Vet QB.  Who that is, remains to be seen but I dont think this staff was put together for a 2-3 year build around a rookie qb.  If its not Carr, carolina is going to make a big trade for a qb and they will draft another qb in the 2nd this year to compete with Corral.

Reich said in his presser today that he built his staff with a plan in place to where if someone gets hired away, the replacement would then be ready to go. He essentially hired coordinators and their replacements already in order to preserve continuity. I don't know how often teams do that, but that's pretty smart to me.

I’m pretty surprised how stupid a lot of coaches are. Just hiring whomever.

I disagree. This team is built for a rookie or young QB, could be Corral, but probably not.
There are no BIG QB to trade for this off-season.
Rodgers isn’t coming here and Lamar is definitely not coming here.
Panthers are between a rock and a hard place.
Sign a 30 year old QB to a big contract and hope that we can revive his career, deja vu.
Move up in the draft for a QB or take a project QB at 9.
Sign a bridge QB for this year and ask the fans to be patience because 2023 will be rough QB-wise.
New staff has a lot of hard questions to answer of the next few months. Glad I am not them.

I agree. We definitely won’t be trading up into the top 3 to draft a rookie QB and giving up all the draft capital. We need those pieces and a decent vet QB and we’re good to go for a few years

What vet QB? I want to win a Super Bowl not just go to the playoffs and until we get a franchise QB we are going no where.
Playoffs maybe good enough for some people but not me.
I am getting very impatient.

You are in for a very disappointing season if you are expecting that this upcoming season.  Even Cam Newton could not do that his first season.  Ironically a practice squad/nfl Europe qb we signed did. But I digress. My point being we will not start a rookie before he's ready and there is not one in the draft ready to anyway. So a vet it is for the time being.  You might as well accept it.

It seems like it's usually established guys that don't really need much help, or flash hires of guys from winning teams that take the paycheck and then hire whoever. Then occasional college gambles obviously

Fitterer said he would be swinging for the fences meaning he isn't going to be limited to a vet or a young gun. But there are practicalities. If we spend draft capital  on a vet trade we won't have the ammunition to move up in the draft for a top 3 qb.  And if we go for moving up in the draft any vet we get will be a free agent or we can trade for him relatively cheaply. Carr is a real possibility now that he has been released.  But so is Darnold and a bunch others.  Will we draft one? Absolutely we will have both young guys to develop and vets to start or mentor the young guys.  That is what we did with coaches why not do the same with players as least to some extent.

Bridge QB while they develop a QB?  I think it’s important to note that both Reich and Fitterer won Super Bowls with 3rd Round QB’s.  I would not discount Corral and/or another QB drafted this year in the 2nd or 3rd round paired with a vet QB that knows Reich’s system.

Jacoby Brissett played for Reich in Indy and will be a Free Agent. Two other names to possibly keep an eye on especially if they get cut are Nick Foles and Carson Wentz. None of these would be seen as an answer for QB1 but they would all know Reich’s system and more importantly able to help with developing a young/rookie QB of the future.

    • Yes message boards will always include that sort of stuff… However, this place has been a cess pool since the team took Bryce Young over CJ Stroud. It becomes a problem when it is accepted and promoted, which it has been here (even by at least one mod). Many posters sole purpose on this board is to try to dunk on others for having different opinions. We just had one write a novella on how talking about Bryce Young’s game winning drives “needs to stop”…after a win. They don’t want real conversation. It “needs to stop”. There are many posters here who literally only show up after losses to dead thread and try to dunk on others about the QB (MRenshaw is an easy example). I really don’t see much of that happening the other way around. There’s too many people that would rather the team be bad so they can feel justified for constant doom and gloom and negative opinions. It’s been pointed out by many over the past couple years. This just isn’t a place to have football discussions anymore because of the constant hyperbole. If you don’t subscribe to “Bryce Young is the worst QB ever who can’t throw the ball further than 5 yards and is the reason why we lose any game we lose and doesn’t help in any game we win”, then you are labeled a Bryce Young Stan.
    • if you believe he is watching every NFL game.....every week.....go right ahead.  I get it, he said something you like.  But that's like believing the talking heads on the ESPN shows are watching all the games.  You think Stephen A is watching the Panthers every Sunday too?  If Stephen A needs to go on First Take he certainly can pretend like he has watched every snap any player on the roster has taken lol.   No one is that isn't a Panther fan has been watching the 9-25 career go down every Sunday.  Or even a lot of Sunday's.  You know who knows more about Bryce Young than Long? The collective huddle.  What they are reviewing is stat sheets, highlights and in summaries.  It's an old formula lol.
