The full potential of the coaching staff. Hmm, how does that work?

Give them a full of talent kid who really only needs tactical coaching, he has every tool and mechanical refinement.
Will your full potential be needed on a guy like that?

Take another on, say you have a guy like Minshew.  Change it to Darnold. Whatever, I can’t think of the best example right now. I bet they have to work a bit harder. You might be working to your full potential.

I think they are most valuable if they knew to take example one. First test of their abilities. Because they were good enough to know the difference between that guy and others like him that bust out.

If you get the right qb it doesn’t matter if you gave two 1sts or three. Bu5 if you get the wrong one, you will think dammit Darnold or Minshew was sitting right there and we were so damned smart. You will be thinking g that for YEARS.

Our qb isnt in the top 4 of this draft. You go nowhere with a bad/mediocre qb also and you lose picks to get that bad qb.The math says no.

Frankly don't care what the "Math" says and I'm tired of first round picks in all honesty. Did Luke ever lead us to a ring?(Bless his soul), did Jordan Gross ever lead us to a ring? Did Vernon Butler ever lead us to a ring? The answer is NO.

I'm ready to trade up in the draft, 3-4 first round picks doesn't matter to me. I'm tired of the same sh*t every year, and if it doesn't work, then f*ck it, we tried atleast.

It's the same thing over and over.  People don't realize these elite prospects like Luck/Lawrence/Burrow are never going to be available via trade because teams never trade out of those picks.  We are going to have to take a gamble on one at some point.  We have hired a strong staff that can really deep dive into these prospects to see if there is one they can develop or not.  I'm with you though, I am ready to take a chance on a prospect possibly even trading up if needed.

We also have never had an offensive minded coach either. I don't need to see us spend a multitude of picks yet to go get a QB. I'm willing to give this coaching staff more than a couple of months to evaluate and find the right QB pick. It could be that they don't think there is one worth trading up to get. Maybe there is. I'm willing to finally allow offensive minded people make some decisions instead of a defensive HC and a wanna be cheerleader.

When the Panthers are finally able to pick at #9...

All 4 top QBs (Young, Stroud, Levis, Anderson) will be gone
All top D-Lineman (Carter, Anderson, Murphy) gone
All top Defensive Backs (Branch, Witherspoon, Gonzalez)... That is right, also gone
All Wr/TE/RB (Johnston, Flowers, Mayer, Robinson, Addison) gone!

Our only option is to Ricky Williams this thing yall.

4 qbs have never been drafted in the top 8 in the history of the nfl draft.  Someone always drops.

If we had ended up with a top 3 pick and moving to #1 wasnt going to  cost us significantly I wouldnt have made the comment.

But if we have to give up 3 1s to get that first choice then they all do.  They are all just as capable of turning into a Leaf, Marinovich, or Russel.

Im a long way from the smartest football guy around here but the idea of trading years worth of firsts seems wrong-headed when it doesnt come with a guarantee.

So you wait until you suck to get a QB??

How long is that going to be..

If we don’t get a QB then this rockstar coaching staff is not being utilized to its full potential. We have the guys in place to develop a franchise QB right now. If we wanted to lower the cost of drafting our QB, the time to do it was during last season. Trading Burns could have given us extra ammo. Going 5-3 to end the season did us no favors.

And you're also cutting the nuts off this 'rockstar coaching staff' by telling them they don't have a first round pick for the next three years.

    • How did this “innovative” narrative start with Canales? Just because he’s young? He truly wants to run the ball and nothing Tampa did last year was all that creative. Mike Evans ability to win 1 on 1 does wonders for an offense as a whole
    • Initially, I wanted Stroud but I thought the trade up meant that, whoever they chose, it was for a reason.  There was no pressure to do anything for the entire scouting team to do other than investigate every aspect of the top 3 candidates.  Stroud had his question marks, and I think it is possible that he falters this year.  Bryce had a much worse situation here in Carolina because we neglected the OL, traded our #1 WR, did not pick WRs well in the draft, traded our pro bowl RB, and seem to disregard the TE position altogether.  Bozeman was not a good fit and we relied on an improved OL in 2022 to suggest that we were set there when we were far from it.  Fitterer had no vision, no grasp of talent, and everyone in the front office and on the coaching staff were pretending to be gurus.  Our coaching staff was a group of men earning a lifetime achievement paycheck.  It all goes back to the years of neglect for the OL.  My theory?  If Stroud had come to Carolina, he would be as mocked and ridiculed as Bryce Young.   No, he does not have a cannon.  Chad Pennington was a weak-armed QB who had success and would have been even better if it were not for injuries.  Smarts is important at QB, and so are mechanics.  Before you can address Young's mechanics, he needs an OL, Running game, and weapons. We were not really able to run play action from under center for a few reasons--play action is not effective when you have to pass the ball--other than that, the QB must turn his back to the LOS for about 1.5 seconds.  When the QB has less than 2.5 seconds to pass the ball, that eliminates that part of the play book.  Heck, even the run option is minimized when there is immediate facial pressure.  SO those who want to talk about happy feet, bouncing, etc--they are symptoms of the problem, not the problem.  A weak arm?  Well, Young's arm is between Chad Pennington and Joe Montana--closer to Joe.  His are is not as weak as some think--but he has issues with the deep ball. When you are reacting to the defense and quickly have to pass, then that takes away the strength because you don't have the base to get power behind it.  I still wish we had taken Stroud, but we have Young and if you toss him out before giving him support, you are not wise, unsmart, not unfoolish, and rather elite in your failure to attain mediocrity.  Expect growth.  How much? Nobody knows.
