I don't know if we "all know that" but if you assume that's true, that'd make him a pretty bad teammate.

We'll never know but I'd take Lamar all day long and we are instantly a playoff team and maybe more with him as our starter.  Fans want a big move and here's the big move.

I don't give a sh-t about "the big move".

Teams that win make the smart move.

This isn't it.

What if you give him more than what the Ravens would offer which is reportedly 133 mil guaranteed?

You think Lamar is going to quit playing football if he doesn't get the Watson contract?

We would be foolish not to offer him more than what the Ravens will offer. Give him 190 fully guaranteed.

And again, all the Ravens have to do is match it.

That's how the franchise tag works.

But Fitterer isn’t in a position to sit and hope someone falls to him that’s the problem here

This whole things is a mess… again

I dont think its a mess. I think the team just needs to pick a plan and go after it - which they will.

You either
A) got after a FA QB.
B) trade all the way to #1 or #3 and get your guy
C) Let the draft fall (I still suspect that AR15 falls)

They will have a plan. Im sure that when they hired Reich they already knew what they wanted to do.

LOL how is this a mess?  Nothing has even happened yet, and all indications are saying we are going to be extremely aggressive to get our guy.

True, but even the little hits from running add up. If you keep getting nicked for 1 HP damage on Run plays then you aren't going into the fight with a full pool of health in the passing game. Sooner or later you fail a saving throw and go down.

Real life is not a JRPG

He has missed several games the last three seasons. If you could get full years out of him, every year, like a Peyton, Tom, Joe, Patrick, etc. then yeah, you pay him. If not, you don't give him guaranteed money that he's asking for. Guaranteed money is for guaranteed play and he hasn't been able to do that.

Again, getting to 1 isn’t a for sure thing. There are no FA QB’s available that are the answer long term. Fitterer isn’t in a position to sit and wait come draft night

I’m all for throwing picks at Chicago until they say yes because it’s time so don’t think I’m against any of this I’m just telling you the pickle we’re in and the pressure Fitterer is under to deliver

It's a mess because we are about to trade even more assets away for someone who may or may not be worthwhile. Add to that we may be trying to trade with a Conference foe who already has a QB and we could just be mortgaging our future to look up at them. We have a solid QB and can't add talent around them.

That's the trade-off and why I'd rather trade down, stack talent, and work on getting enough picks to take Maye or Williams next year. You can stack, stack, stack talent on days 1 and 2 in this draft but we are going to avoid doing that to take a guy like Will Levis.

I'd be good with Anthony Richardson, though not trading up much to get him, or Stroud. The recent history on teams who have traded up for QB's isn't pretty, at all. None of them since 2015 are on the team that drafted them.

Yeah I agree. I dont think Fitt is waiting till draft night to make a move. He needs to secure that plan WELL before the draft.

So if the Ravens decide to match the contract, does he have to sign it? I get that they can match what he agrees to with another team, but if they decide to match can't he just refuse to sign? This is assuming he is done with Baltimore and wants out.

If we do end up at 1 I believe most of the mock trades floating around with pick compensation going to Chicago will seem very light versus what we actually give up

    • Teams do some super stupid stuff with mid-fairly good QBs. I think they are just absolutely terrified they will be stuck with a QB that is not the quality of the QB they have now, even if its someone like Daniel Jones. Lots of trash QBs go in the first round. I encourage you to take a look at the sad, sad list of first round QBs in the last 15 years.
    • No, it will be a raw 6'7" 17-year-old European who just played basketball for the first time in March and who the idiot GM "had first on our board." He'll play the whole G-League season, get in 42 games for the Hornets and average 1.1 ppg on 35% shooting. Been there, seen that.
    • We missed on Burns at his peak value. That’s the problem with trading for picks 2-3 years away (which people were convinced the Rams would suck by now and these would be higher picks btw). Each year away the pick is the further in value it drops. Fitt was clearly hired based on turning us around quickly. It’s one of the many reasons tanking isn’t really a thing as our player JJ is telling you in this original article. It would take the whole organization from the owners down admitting they aren’t winning soon with Burns and picks 2-3 years away having more value because that’s when we are still rebuilding. It would only make sense if Fitt had a longer leash and would more than likely be the ones making these picks anyway which you wouldn’t want. The question is would you rather have those Rams picks with the strong possibility of Fitt still being here or would you rather Fitt try to “win now” like he did and expedite his firing? Altering the timeline would affect more than just the Rams picks.
