They're Not Done Trading

Don't be surprised if DJ Moore isnt the only player traded this offseason.  Carolina is in a straightup rebuild.  Completely new staff with different needs for players.  It's getting blown up.  I would not be surprised to see Burns traded before he walks with no compensation next year.

Word was they didn't really want to trade Moore.

Sure, but I could think of worse things to part with. It stings for this season, but next season will bring a bunch of options.

I don’t think Burns is going anywhere now. With the hiring of Evero, he’s going to be the most critical piece of that defense (was already that but even more so now)

 

Were going to have a stingy defense this year keeping us in games as the rookie takes their lumps. 
 

2024 is going to be the leap year where the defense is solid and the offense starts to be catch up with the defense. 
 

It’s not unimaginable that we win the division with a rookie this year as it stands now. I’d think Reich could have a similar type impact that Pederson had in Jacksonville. Our situations are really similar. Young QB, awful division, new proven head coach taking over for a train wreck college coach, some nice pieces on defense with a few years worth of top ten picks, key free agent additions likely at the receiver and tightend spots.

I'd suspect we go the opposite way and immediately start playing to win. Fitterer has said he doesnt suspect to draft low after this year. The division is very winnable you can easily add some short term pieces to help get the offense off the ground and compete for the playoffs year 1 with Stroud or Young, and make bigger moves next off season when all the cap opens up.

Doesnt look like a rebuild but more of a reset the cap and build around a rookie QB.

Unfortunately, those options are worse than Moore. But props to Chicago. I look for other teams to early offer up trades to the Panthers, because it’s the quickest and cheapest way for them to build talent.

This isn’t a rebuild. Trading DJ is a calculation that he can be replaced and trading the picks is a calculation that you can’t compete without an elite QB. Our defense is going to be elite. Our offensive line is elite. Our running game has the potential to be the best in the division.
