Marc Ryan - "Carolina Zeroed in on Stroud and Richardson"

I kind of look at this way. If I'm Fit and Reich am I risking my last chance as a coach and GM on the incredible rawness of Anthony Richardson? Maybe I'm adverse to extreme risk, but I am certainly not. I would go with the somewhat less risker option with a probable great return. Which in this case would be Young or Stroud.

I don’t want to have to do that for the 1st pick in the draft..
Come up with gadget plays just to get him playing time???
We gave up 3 picks and our number 1 Wr for that??

And you literally just described what San Fran did with Lance..

To be 1000% clear, he isn't my top choice for pick 1.  I prefer Stroud and Young over him.  I just think he is further along than people are thinking and will probably be playing some in year 1.  That Florida offense had him looking a lot worse than he is.  I saw a lot of drop backs, going through reads, and WRs dropping nice throws.

Even if I’m tepper,. I took the big swing 7 years 70 million dollars thinking I’ve found the next Jimmie Johnson in college..

Why would he be talked into doing it again..

It's like someone said earlier in the eval process.....

A coach can risk being fired over Anthony Richardson. If you select him and he busts, you're fired. If you don't select him and he becomes the next great QB, you better hope "your guy" is a franchise QB or else.

Well by that standard you have 2x the chance not selecting him than selecting him.

I get that .. I still disagree with the opinion on Richardson and just need you to explain to me why you have that Opinion..

let’s be real.. AR  has been in The Florida program since 2020 but couldn’t win the starting job until 2022 .. Emory nor Luke whatever we’re good QB’s but they held AR back for 2 years .. How??

Would make absolutely 0 sense to trade up to 1 for Richardson, if you trade down to 3 or 4 for him then why trade up to 1 in the first place. Probably could've kept DJ and gave up a little less to get to 3 and get him.

I think I've seen it reported that no team in the history of the NFL draft has ever traded up to #1 and then traded out of it. The Panthers would be stupid as hell to be the first team to do so

who are you to say he will for sure be there at 3-4?

just because dumb dumb TV internet guy has a list of best to worst doesnt mean its accurate worth a poo.  who knows whats going on in the war rooms of the teams in the top.

Mike Mayock prime example.

just sit back and let Fitt do his thing

not saying we should take Richardson at one.  just calling out fans thinking they know how the board is gunna fall

Yes really it is .. Stop watching hype video where they only show you the good plays.. He missed more short easy throw then anybody I’ve ever seen .. If another team play a zone he was lost completely.. If they stopped the run the game was over and look like Darnold in NO last season..

I have no clue what you think you saw but this kid maybe just as raw or even less prepared to play then Malik last year and the “real” Tape says this..

I'm sorry, I can't take you seriously. I've watched every game I can find of each of the top four. Stroud, Levis, and Richardson I've often watched games 2-4 times.

Teams have too much time now between combine and the draft. I am afraid we will talk ourselves out of the best choice.

Yeah. Certainly looks like we moved up not being in love with anyone and would “figure it out”.

which I don’t love.

Good still doesn’t change the fact this dude miss more easy passes on the level of Kyle Bowler and  Has less experienced then any QB predicted to be drafted in the 1st round..

He couldn’t read defense once they made adjustments..  He was lost when they spied him.. And without his running ability he would be similar to Clemson’s Ugala..

Dont take me seriously but show this great film where a QB with the lowest comp % Of any QB ever considered to be drafted this high and a 17  - 9 tds to interception line and just blame his footwork.. Even with good footwork he miss throws and went to the wrong read..

Facts are facts

    • Bryce among the 7 players Mark Ross of NFL.com guarantees will get better this season. Today, I am identifying seven players who I guarantee will improve on their 2024 output in the 2025 season. Young took tremendous strides in 2024 after returning to the starting lineup in Week 8 following his benching. He looked far more comfortable in his return and produced with consistency, as he threw for 2,104 yards with 15 TDs and six INTs in the final 10 contests. Most important perhaps is Young's confidence grew immensely down the stretch, leading Carolina to either a game-tying or game-winning drive in six of those games. Now he enters his second season in Dave Canales' system with his best supporting cast to date. The Panthers drafted wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan eighth overall to pair with Adam Thielen and Xavier Legette, who I also believe is poised for a breakout campaign this fall. The 18th-ranked rushing attack from a year ago added Rico Dowdle to complement Chuba Hubbard, giving the team a pair of 1,000-yard rushers. The Panthers have taken the necessary steps to ensure Young's third season will be the best of his career, and now it's up to him to not only continue to grow as a player but prove why he was worthy of being taken No. 1 overall in 2023. I believe that's what he will do. https://www.nfl.com/news/which-nfl-players-will-improve-in-2025-c-j-stroud-deebo-samuel-among-guaranteed-risers
    • While it's fair to question how impactful a player's relationship with a coach is (especially if someone has questions regarding said coach), it's important to also evaluate the difference between the players here. Jordan Fuller was pick #199 in the 6th round while Justin Simmons was #98 in the 3rd round. Jordan Fuller might have gotten a Super Bowl ring while he was with the Rams, but he got it while on the IR. Justin Simmons, on the other hand, is a x2 Pro-Bowler (2020, 2023), x4 second-team All-Pro (2019, 2021 - 2023), and was the NFL co-leader in INTs (2022). Simmons has also fallen off in the last couple of seasons though, grade-wise. He very well might not be that same player, which could be why the Falcons have elected to replace him with Fuller. As far as getting the best out of what he has, asking him to produce with a starting DL of A'Shawn Robinson (63.56% of the defense's snaps), LaBryan Ray (51.48%), and Shy Tuttle (50.08%) isn't reasonable. Wonnum only played in 8 games, but had the second most % of snaps (37.27%) at EDGE behind Clowney (53.53%). The second-string DL based on snap % was... and don't read this if you just ate... Charles Harris (34.48%), DeShawn Williams (27.67%), and Nick Thurman (19.7%). The second-string EDGEs based on snap count would be DJ Johnson (32.27%) and Cam Gill (18.14%). With the investments made in the run defense this season though, especially on the defensive line, it's more than fair to demand a complete turn around from last season.
