He any good?

Not yet, though has has played all 13 games the last two seasons, and is rapidly improving. He'll be well worth watching this upcoming season.

Because McCown doesn't make the pick?

I think you guys are putting way too much into the happy looks. I've never seen coaches, GMs, and such not look happy when they meet guys at workouts or other events. Expect to see more of the same at the other pro days they attend.

I’m sure the QB coach has a strong say in who is going to be his protege. Thinking otherwise is asinine.

I’d be willing to be that his opinion is right up there with Fitterer’s and Reich’s.

I watched Stroud's pro day and personal interviews, he is well spoken and seems to be very religious thanking God in each of his interviews. Stroud already checks all the boxes you want in regards to physical tools as a QB. I think the factor that will separate him from Bryce is demeanor and how they each carry themselves. It may be a small point but I think it's huge that Frank being a pastor will pick Stroud because his personal makeup. Nothing against Bryce's personal religious beliefs.

Bryce is an outspoken Christian as well

Running or not running is a much bigger deal for Levis than it is for Stroud IMO. Stroud is the much more polished overall QB. Levis is a guy who is going to be a 24 year old rookie who is still asking teams to take a huge gamble on his physical talent and potential. Okay. Well then, show me.

I don't really think anybody's drafting Stroud with an eye toward him being a dual threat

If you were the owner and were to go to this event wouldn't you want to also see the prospect that would lead the team to the playoffs and possibly a SB. Also physically see what they can do with your own eyes right in front of you. Tepper may just want to be there to see his new QB without meddling.

He was on the field after the workout and shook hands with him when McCown and Reich were talking to him--he did not chat--just leaned in during the conversation with the coaches and sorta interrupted. As I said, this is "worrisome" to me.  Not a big deal, but when I say, "worrisome" it implies that he could be meddling because he was there, unlike most owners at all pro days--and you say, "it is ok if he does not meddle."  ???

    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
    • Ok LT and Petersen are a cut above everyone else to me cmc and Faulk are interchangeable on this list.  though Faulk was better career wise
