I sincerely hope the qb is not chosen because it pleases the most fans. The fans opinion should never be a factor in selecting a player.

If this report is accurate, I think it's more of a "This is who we're picking so you have two weeks to get on board before draft night." If it was truly a surprise then there would be people caught off guard and upset on draft night no matter who is picked, which is what they're trying to avoid by leaking it.

If thats the case I wonder why we are wasting our in house visits on guys we have no chance of drafting?

Hey moron

Ever damn poll has been 50/50 with most of the more recent ones favoring Bryce.

now if you are referring to some poll on a Ohio State board.  Idk,  I don’t check those.

Link them then big boy. Make sure it's a Panthers fan poll not some USA Today.

No clue. That's why I'm just waiting to see what happens. Hopefully we get an in depth write up of the draft process from Kaye or Person after the fact.

Literally just yesterday

If my math is correct

it looks like the fans are favoring Bryce not the guy YOU like.

I’m saying they are leaking the pick because they are NOT taking the safe pick.

It's not decided yet.  I will be surprised if we announce it ahead of time in case a team like Houston makes us a stupid offer to get their guy.

I think they're just softening the blow on draft night, depending on which camp you're in.

Judging by this board, twitter, reddit and WFNZ, fans are going to be torn initially regardless of who we pick. There's nothing else to talk about until July when they start throwing and getting closer to preseason.

It's amazing that we moved up to #1, but there's a LOT of pressure on nailing this pick correctly. Not for the fans, but the franchise.

There isn't a wrong answer with these two and the true value won't be seen for a few years. It's the nature of our culture....instant gratification. No patience.

I will happily change my pic to Young in the black and blue as soon as he's picked. I just want to win again and rid my memories of the sh!t show we've watched for the past five years.

Try reading any poll or the comments section on who should be the pick. And @Tbe is right, the team's not going to want Team Stroud vs Team Young on draft night.

Since you want to act dense I'll put it this way: I haven't seen a single example of a fan being against drafting Stroud and I can't say for the other QBs.

The organization will smoke screen their intentions until the pick is made. They’re waiting on Houston to offer a ransom or they’ll pick their guy.

there's always a chance the guy we want falls getting out of the shower or they find something gross on his laptop before the draft

If this was truly a ruse to get the texans to trade (which I dont) then we should have only hosted Young

I dont think so, I think you need to sell it as yeah, we prefer one (Bryce) but we are ok with taking either of them. If you sell it to hard that Bryce is the guy, then if the Texans call about a trade and you are open to it, it would signal to them that you are just trying to get assets.

I agree though, I dont think its a ruse at all, I think they actually like both and are deciding which.

That is what Klein is saying. The Panthers don’t want a torn fan base on draft night and have half that stadium feel disappointed.

That thinking makes sense to me. Warn people ahead of time so the feels aren’t as raw.

    • I think he did a solid job.  Honestly I liked his post game interview the best.  He gave himself a C and said he left a lot out on the field.  That kind of attitude can carry him far.
    • This is lacking a fairly considerable amount of context. For one, Adams(age 22) started 12 of 16 games, had 38 rec, 446 yds and 3 TD's on 66 targets(18 less, with 2 less games started). The main thing missing here is that the top two WR's for Green Bay that year combined for about 2800 yds and 25 TD's. Now if you want to throw a more accurate dart at Adams, take a look at year two. This year the production was spread around considerably and Adams didn't stand out from that pack(pun not intended).  So, if XL struggles mightily this season, I would probably keep that comparison in your quiver to counter argue. I would suggest that I don't think that scenario is probably very accurate for most HOF caliber WR's taken in the first round over the past 15 or so years. Adams was the 89th pick overall, as well. A little different hill to climb than XL, although not massively.
    • to clarify I am not referring to Will Levis.  Not knowingly.   I just made that up and tried to use a reasonable guesstimate of what else was done.  That sounded in the ballpark.  At one time I did look it all up and there were several teams that had much more successful days downfield.   If that happened to be Levis' actual numbers than it's more of a lucky coincidence.  If memory serves, it wasn't just Will Levis that brought the claim into question, it was SEVERAL teams had better days.  and you are missing my entire point of the subjective nature of it all.  If PFF employee Doug watched Bryce's film and then used his same unique subjective vantage point to grade all 31 other starting QBs.  Then dumped into into a spread sheet, it would a subjective Doug take but at least it would be a level uniform subjectivity.   The grades are done by various people.  All watching and applying their own subjective view to a play.  Everyone isn't going to grade incompletions out the same.  Or completions.   So when you dump it all into a spread sheet and hit sort.....it's not actually a statement of fact as portrayed.  Which is why you sometimes get some head scratching stuff.  I'm not reframing anything.   I don't think.  I just wasn't going to look it all back up so I was talking vaguely off the general issue I have with PFF and treating any random claim they make as the truth.
