I have to watch this poo though.

These guys have a poo ton of experience. Let them pick. If they're wrong, fire them. Not like we haven't suffered through plenty of suck before.

If this whole thing flops though, my confidence in Tepper has officially hit absolute zero.

I like Darnell Washington TE from Georgia at no. 39 I think he instantly replaces Ian Thomas and Tommy Tremble in being our inline blocker, a serious red zone threat, and potential to develop as a pass catcher but can come along slowly as Hayden Hurst fulfills that role. Washington blocking is rated so good that if he doesn't develop at TE, could be converted to RT.

Did Frank Reich say it? Did Scott Fitterer say it? Did Thomas Brown say it? Did Josh Mccown say it? Did Jim Caldwell say it? No? Then I don’t believe it.

Thomas Brown pretty much did say it during his intro presser. He literally described Bryce Young (without mentioning his name) as the type of quarterback he wants for his offense.

Just playing Devil's Advocate here....but if the current Young hype is media driven then what was the Stroud hype that happened after the trade up? Because some of the same media that was leaning into the Stroud talk are doing the same thing with Young. Just throwing it out there.

Exactly - how is it far fetched that we traded up for the best QB in this draft.

They're the Houston Texans, bud.

Yet their coach is a defensive guy and their GM might be also (coming from NE). If there was a concern about his size they'd know first because they'd know how they'd gameplan against him, and if he will be knocked out by NFL defenses.

They're also the team that preferred Brock Osweiler because of his size too...maybe they've learned their lesson as a franchise. Ironically Bill O'Brien preferred Osweiler...and later coached Young. Would be interesting to hear his opinion.

I'm truly cool with either QB (though I do like Young a little more, no pun intended) but some of the double standards on here about what news is real and what's fake about the reports on who we like is a little weird to me. I don't think everything that has come out this week is a smokescreen but I also don't believe anything is set in stone.

I do believe however that the CJ Stroud speculation post trade up was largely based on the timing (post-combine where he threw well) and the idea that Frank will only coach a QB of a certain stature. It's entirely possible that people have taken a step back and maybe gotten more intel on the panthers intentions leading to the drastic shift in the past few weeks.

It's all over his College tape.

Also I've no idea why people have to be such dicks on here - grow the fug up.

Weird. I've watched a lot of his tape. I don't see it. Analysts don't see it. I don't see anyone anywhere in anyway related to the NFL saying BY struggles with pressure. The stats don't back that up either. It's utter nonsense. Sorry to come across harsh earlier.

Now that we know Bryce Young is likely the pick.

Can we get this dude a legit young weapon to grow with?

No disrespect to Thielen he's aging, and Chark is on a 1yr deal with a injury prone history.

If we can get a young WR or TE he can grow with would be nice.

I might have to be TE wr this year isn’t very strong

I still hope this is all speculation and Fitterer stays true to his word that they're not going to discuss the QB until they all come together next week.

With regards to an extra weapon - fug that, if they're going to risk their careers with Young you need to build an absolute wall in front of him. Dude does not handle pressure from NFL athletes well AT ALL.

Think you have this backwards. CJ Stroud’s passing grade against pressure this year was 43.9. Bryce Young’s was 67.5. Bryce Young did much better against pressure against arguably better competition.

Im not really concerned about this whole size thing... the NFL is literally creating rules where you are not allowed to hit the QB hard. It's changing the mentality of the defensive players now. They are coached not to hit the QB... wild thought right?

Fear of getting a penalty will not prevent him from getting hit hard by a defender.  A team will glady take a 15 yrd penalty to hit him so hard he's blowing snot bubbles.  It's too late after he gets crushed by having a 350 lb dlineman fall on him a full speed.

Pretty sure most QBs would get injured this way. Don’t care if you’re 3 inches taller or weight 20lbs more, you’re getting hurt. It’s the pocket awareness and line adjustments to avoid poo like this that matter more.

    • What's wrong with Damien Lewis? He played pretty well last year.
    • Official NFL Cuts Tracker Deadline for roster cuts is Tuesday, August 26th. At this moment (Friday, August 22nd) the only interesting names I see are... K Caden Davis (BUF) RB Ameer Abdullah (SF) WR Equanimeous St. Brown (SF) WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (NO) LB Khaleke Hudson (TEN) Abdullah, St. Brown, Peoples-Jones I don't exactly think we should cut anybody for but it was just interesting seeing those names. Khaleke Hudson was on the Panthers' practice squad last year I believe and might have even gotten called up? And of course, Caden Davis just because of the question mark at kicker this season for the team.
    • I'll say 6/10. I don't know that we learned a whole lot about this team during preseason that we didn't already know. We didn't play the starters enough to really get a feel for what to expect. We had one good drive against the Browns, one 3-and-out and two 3-and-outs against the Texans. That's an extremely small sample size across 3 games regardless of performance. My camp/preseason takeaways: Jalen Coker might be the best WR on this team and is certainly no worse than #2. Nic Scourton is going to be a good player for us. Possibly very good. Bobby Brown was our best free agent addition. Jack Plummer isn't an NFL QB. Not even a practice squad guy. Having anyone other than Canales and Evero call plays was a really stupid and pointless idea. Our depth is largely non-existent, especially on defense. The three areas we actually DO have depth are on the OL, in the WR corp. and at RB. I can't fathom why Dan Morgan didn't do more to upgrade ILB during the offseason. We better hope Lathan Ransom steps up at FS because if he doesn't we have a massive hole. For all the hype surrounding Sanders/Evans, Tommy Tremble is still the best TE on the roster. I'm only slightly less enthusiastic going into the regular season than I was a month ago. I think our starters on offense are solid and we should be pretty good there unless Bryce totally regresses. On defense, we're probably bottom 3rd in the league if 100% healthy and significantly worse than that if injuries become an issue. We badly need at least two of our rookies to become high-level players early (ideally one of the pass rushers + Ransom) and at least 2 of our free agent additions (ideally Moehrig + Bobby Brown) to be significant upgrades over last year. Call me pessimistically optimistic 😆
