ESPN’s Matt Miller: “There's a lot of like for C.J. Stroud there, but Bryce won the entire organization over.”

Back in March Schefter tweeted that David Tepper loves Bryce Young. Then you see the photos of Mrs. Tepper it's clear they had their preference all along. Is Tep directing them who to pick? No. But when you have two prospects who are close and it comes down to which one to pick it helps that your boss who pays your salary loves that one. I'll trust they are making the right pick there isn't anything else to do.

But I will say the folks who are posting these copium quips remind me of when the huddle was rationalizing the Kyle Allen hype machine and trying to convince themselves Teddy Bridgewater and Sam Darnold just need more time.

Maybe let's just allow BY to get on the field and show us something 🫡

And back before March those same people you are referring to claimed Tepper Loved Will Levis as well.

And I don’t think it’s even as close between the 2 prospects.

Smitty said on his podcast a few weeks back that he heard teams at the pro days talking how Bryce Processes thing in a whole completely high level than Stroud.

Daniel Jeremiah on his national media call said after talking to all the teams across the league.  There is a clear cut QB1 in this draft.

Bryce was always the favorite and the top QB in this draft.  But all the armchair scouts and GMs immediately pointed that we’d take the 2nd guy assuming Reich wouldn’t take a QB under 6’3.   And the same armchair GMs got to wrapped up in a 10 second handshake they saw on TV.

Most people assumed it was Stroud after the trade because Frank Reich coached tall QBs and there was no way that he would ever want a short QB like Young. Even after he came out and said "nah thats not true" the telephone game persisted.

Yep

I have been really curious about how all this information has been getting out. Is it that the staff just doesn't care that everyone knows who they're going with but can't explicitly say they're picking Bryce due to NFL saying not to?

It's reached the point where its becoming redundant, it's not really news unless they flipped their opinion

That's where I've been for a while. I'm not going to be excited about Bryce pick unless he convinces me otherwise on the field.  I'll be upset if he's anything short of great he's got a lot to live up to given how Cams rookie year went.

When you take a QB with the #1 pick in the draft the hope is that they are an elite franchise QB. With how the much elite QB's are getting on their 2nd contracts I don't have a problem with Tepper being in on the conversation about who we take. Obviously Tepper doesn't need to be making the pick or overruling the group consensus of our coaching staff and scouting department but if he wants to be in the room and be a part of the conversation then I don't got an issue with it because if Bryce Young or CJ Stroud turn out to be elite like we all think they can be then it's gonna be Tepper who's gonna be giving out that 200 million dollar plus extension. At the end of the day Tepper writes the checks for the franchise and it's clear he at least wants to be involved in the big decisions but he's not some super crazy meddling owner like a lot of people claim him to be. If he didn't step in an overrule Matt Rhule as he drove the franchise into the ground, then what makes you think he'd come in and overrule his new elite experienced coaching staff?

There were posts a couple weeks ago about the team wanting to hint/leak who the pick is so fans would be on board and not boo at the draft party. So, if that was true, it makes sense more and more info is finding its way into the media.
