I believe you and I know that Bryce is the pick, but I find it strange that an old school coaching staff and front office would want a 5-10, 175 ilb qb at #1 overall. Doesn't make any damn sense at all. 

 

If he was 5-10 and stocky that's a different story, but when he's at his playing weight, that's just scary in the NFL.

Fitterer and Reich have repeatedly made it clear that the pick is their call.

I know some folks don't wanna buy it but I've seen no real evidence that it's otherwise.

You find it strange because that's all you see ...a 5'10, 175lb QB. That's the problem. You cannot/will not see anything beyond that.

If he actually was 200ish, It wouldn't be a problem but he isn't 200ish.. 

 

Heck he's not even 190ish like Alabama had him, he played between 170-180 and was 185 at the most. 

I know he's got all the tools as a qb, but his frame (not his height) is a major freaking issue. 

 

Murray, Wilson, Brees were all legit 210-220lb framed qb's. 

 

Young has a frame where maybe he can get to what Alabama had him listed at in a healthy way

While we can’t remove the size element of  Bryce Young’s evaluation, I feel there's enough positives to make his height and frame just a part of who he is as a QB, not what defines him.

Bryce led this draft class in generated pressure (pressure the qb is responsible for) 

Outside of his frame, that's the biggest worry next level. 

 

If he gets his weight up and it doesn't impact his Athleticism much or any then size isn't really a concern.

It might seem like I hate the pick, I actually don't hate the pick at all. Just super concerned about his size buy hopefully he is successful and becomes the exception to the rule

      I get the sentiment. Our franchise is literally in shambles and there is really next to no hope of any improvement. As our former coach loved to say, it is what it is. I hope that he doesn't end up a bust because we really can't afford to keep reaching on picks like we did with Brooks and then whiffing.  I wouldn't expect much, if any, impact from Brooks in 2024. Even if the ACL is healed, it isn't abnormal for players to take several weeks or months even after they are 100% to fully "trust" their knee again.
