Make Laviska Our Cordarelle Patterson?

Ideally our top 4 WRs this year will be Chark, TMJ, Thielen, and Mingo this season and while Laviska would be a pretty good 5th WR, Byrd would be just fine as our 5th as well.

We don't really have a big bruising RB on the roster right now, and while we could still sign someone, I'd be interested in seeing what Laviska could provide as a RB.  He already runs like an RB once he gets the ball in his hand and with his size and pass catching ability, I think he'd make for an interesting backfield mate to compliment Sanders.

He's similarly built to Patterson, same weight and just an inch shorter, and runs with a similar aggression.

I think it would work.

I agree with everything. He was supposed to be the next Julio for Colorado, then he got hurt. Leave him at WR and manufacture ways to get him the ball. He's a lot more dangerous than DJ after the catch and and is hard to bring down after first contact. If we utilize Bryce the right way, then he should spread the ball around a lot. Having playmakers after the catch like Shenault and Mingo will be really beneficial to the offense.

Shenault has issues tracking the ball; that's why most of his catches are near the line. That puts a hard ceiling on his game. Mingo has no such limitation, and that makes his ceiling a lot higher. Honestly, Mingo is a better route runner as well. That being said, perhaps they'll both find a role (between the rotation and special teams). Of course Mingo was picked by the current administration...

College isnt the nfl.  In the nfl hes great with the ball in his hands but he's slow and clunky running routes that stretch the field and has to be schemed open.  Hes a specialized player in the NFL.  Hes really good at a specifc thing and thats ok.

The physics of ball flight change from college to the NFL? We're talking about tracking the ball here.

That experiment was already done.  You put him on the outside to play WR and he doesn't get open.  That's why we was available to us.  Because you essentially have to scheme him up with small ball.  Now, would he fit in our offense? Probably so.  That's what we want to do for Young.  But I don't see how the math works well for him.   Because that is all he really is.

We are keeping Mingo, Theilen, and TMJ.   That's 3 non-vertical threats.   We got Chark who is injury prone.  So it almost guarantees we keep Byrd or Shi or go after someone else that can get vertical for when/if Chark goes out.

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
