After nearly 30 years of Panthers football, you should all know to be cautiously optimistic about this team or even semi-pessimistic with the hopes of being surprised. We’ve been burned too many times.

Some are predicting the playoffs this year or even the NFC championship lol. Do you even Panther bro?

Congratulations on making a thread to demonstrate that your you're basically a dick, and you enjoy being one.

Why does us being excited about the upcoming season offend you?

Some people feel it makes them come across more intelligent to tell everyone the worst and then if the teams exceeds what they say they rarely comment or say glad I was wrong.  I would just hope these people's need to be right does not outweigh their pulling for the team.

How many times have we seen this followed by the same person claiming that they're, "just being realistic?" -_-

Most doomer people are ones who did not want to draft Bryce and are very angry we did and still are not over it. If they ever will be.

Reich 11 win max. 3 win min. 8.0 win avg. .547 win % (9 wins). 0 SB.

Rivera 15 win max. 5 win min. 8.2 win avg. .521 win % (9 wins). 1 SB.

Fox 13 win max. 2 win min. 8.3 win avg. .520 win % (9 wins). 2 SB; 3 conference championship games.

Hanging your hat on .027 win % to call Reich the more successful head coach? That is less than half a win over a 17 game schedule. Both Rivera and Fox were more successful than Reich in their first 4 to 5 years of being a NFL head coach.

Reich needs to prove himself, and he is not an elite coach. He is more of the same. Definitely better than Rhule.

Reich's low is from his season where he only coached 9 games and went 3-5-1 with his GM forcing him to bench his starting QB his final two games.  Please correct your "data" to reflect full seasons for wins/losses.

Reich as HC

2018 10-6

2019 7-9 (his worst season Luck retired before season started)

2020 11-5

2021 9-8

2022 3-5-1 (didn't finish)

-So coaching a FULL season his WORST and ONLY loosing season would be 2019 the year his franchise QB randomly retired before the season started.

Just providing some context for this troll account.  Data without context doesn't always tell the full story.

The Tennessee, LSU, Texas, Auburn, and Texas A&M defenses beat him up and frustrated him to the point he looked awful. He was 8-4 in games that were worth evaluating. He doesn't have players like Metchie, Williams, Robinson, or Gibbs

Alabama vs. UT = 35-52, 455 yds, 2td

Alabama vs. A&M = did not play

Alabama vs. LSU = 25-51, 328 yds, 1td 1int in what most consider his worst game.

Neither Metchie nor Williams played for Alabama in 2022.  Their wide receiver room took a big step back in 2022 where they were forced to start two sophomores and their third leading receiver was Jahmyr Gibbs, who failed to hit the 1,000 mark in rushing.  The drop off in supporting offensive talent for Young in 2022 was huge, but yet he somehow managed to almost get them in the playoffs and only lost to LSU by 1 and UT by 3.  Alabama's oline took a step back too with only one draft pick. They did a poor job pass blocking for Young too.

NFC Championship is a pipe dream, but there's no reason we can't make the playoffs in this division.

NFCCG next year.

playoffs this year...and not one and done, either.

that's where i have the bar.

but even if it's just a winning record, that's a win for me and trending in the right direction.

we almost made it last year with a fugged up coaching situation and an even more messed up QB situation. the team was a mess, and we almost pulled off a playoff spot and weren't too far from a winning record.

we are much better off this year than at the the end of last year. no reason to think that we won't be better this year.

    • I get it's subjective and I said "PFF rated him as" one of the top deep ball passers during that time, which is an accurate statement.  They are still a group of professionals that look at film and data in order to make their judgements/ratings.  These people whose data has been incorporated into a lot of teams' staffs view Bryce's deep throws as some of the best in the league during that stretch.  That tells me that he can probably throw a deep pass vs the Huddle's version of he is small and didn't do it his rookie year so he must not be able to.  That and literally seeing him do it just makes me feel he is more than capable of doing so.   Do you think PFF is skewing their opinion to prop up a QB in a bottom tier franchise?  It's just another group's opinion and I feel is pretty respected around the league currently.  It's not the gospel truth or anything.
    • I still remember how happy I was that gettlegut was not the GM once he picked Jones, that was a firing pick and well..... If not for the raiders drafting Clelin Ferrell, it was the biggest draft day mistake in the last 20 some years.
    • He had 251 passing yards. 3 passing touchdowns and 2 rushing touchdowns. All in all a very impressive game. Problem is I do not envision his rushing ability translating like that over the course of the upcoming season. Yeah it will be something to account for from time to time but one it's not sustainable and two you don't want to put his durability to the ultimate test against a motivated defender willing to take a penalty and a fine. And plus with our backfield. Two 1k yard rushers. That's what they're here for. Then we have a much improved WR room. That means Bryce has to elevate those passing numbers substantially. The fact of the matter is regardless of circumstances it did take him 23 games to surpass Kyle Allen's single season passing yardage from 13 games in 2020. And that is not a high bar by any means. Whatever QB tier Bryce ends up in from here amongst his peers this upcoming season when it's all said and done it will be with his arm.
