Yeah I wasn't fully invested during the Rhule era. Shame on me for not knowing a practice squad WR.

Lol he's not a practice squad player and I think all but maybe you know who Shenault is. We traded for him and he's a legit weapon when he's got the ball in his hand. Most of us probably even knew who he was during his first season with the Jags when he was making a pretty decent sized splash there.  He's a dual threat kind of guy that you have to get creative in how you use him.... something we weren't great at last year.

That's good to know. But are you guys trying to slander me because I didn't know the 4th WR on the depth chart of a below average WR core?

Cmon man I wasn't fully invested this past year.

No ...just surprised that a fan that posts so much in here doesn't know the team.

They should go after him now if he’d be open to it.

Assuming all goes to plan with Bryce and he goes the burrow route, you’re trying to make a playoff run with him next season.

The panthers don’t have a first in 2024 and even if Marshall or Mingo become what panthers fans hope he does, you still need someone else on the other side of the field.

Right now the only notable 2024 fa wide receiver is Mike Evans and Tampa will never let him leave. Obviously players will be cut/available for trade but if they’re going to sign a FA anyway might as well do it now and give him an extra year with Bryce before the window (hopefully) opens.

Panthers have 27 mil in cal space and obviously burns needs to be extended, probably this offseason, but the cap is fake and if it’s a possibility then the panthers should move.

If Hopkins wants to ring chase then I get it and Vaya con dios. Go to Buffalo please.

Our WR core was so bad I literally only knew DJ Moore/Robby and TMJ

I honestly still don't know Shenault. My 1st time hearing that name.

Shenault was traded to the Carolina Panthers on August 29, 2022 in exchange for 2023 seventh-round and 2024 sixth-round picks.[18] In his first game with the team, he caught a 67-yard touchdown from Baker Mayfield in a Week 3 victory over the New Orleans Saints.[1

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laviska_Shenault

Saw action in 13 games with four starts for Carolina in 2022... Posted 27 receptions for 272 yards and one touchdown and also rushed nine times for 65 yards and one touchdown

I know the team just not the full roster. The 3rd and 4th guys on the depth chart im going to have a hard time knowing them.

The #4 WR on a depth chart isn't a 3rd or 4th stringer. That guy is seeing a LOT of snaps in the modern NFL considering three wide sets are the base offense for just about every team these days. The 4th WR on the depth chart was an afterthought in the NFL of 20 years ago but he's a fairly significant contributor in today's game and is one WR injury away from being a starter.

The wide receivers are not tops in the league by far but they are not below average. And a signing of Deandre Hopkins will in fact limit reps and development of the younger guys (TMJ and Mingo in particular) no matter what you believe. Couple that with the fact that Hopkins said he is done playing with rookie QB's and now we can go cry over a new pipe dream that is not going to happen anyhow.

I never thought Hopkins was realistic.

If you read my quote earlier in this thread I said the only way we get Hopkins is if we massively overpay him more than the teams on his list.

So we traded for Laviska right before the season last year and when he got touches, he was pretty impressive.  He had the highest pff on the team, I believe last year, for what its worth.

I'm pretty sure you're just having a brain fart and will remember him when you see this highlight:

Sometimes that's your return guy too.

Also, to be clear regarding our...slander victim here, as you may have guessed it's not just the team.

He doesn't know the game

When it comes to even basic concepts that a lot of us learned in Peewee, Midget or Junior High ball, his foottball knowledge has been weighed, measured and found wanting

And as I've repeated many a time, that's no big deal.

You can absolutely enjoy football without knowing the difference between the Wishbone and the West Coast. Loads of people do.

But if you're going to act like you know everything when the reality is that your game IQ is as limited as this guy's, getting "slandered" is bound to happen 🙄

    • I see that perspective, but there are some glaring differences.  At that time, the QB in Green Bay was entrenched  or proven and Love was the 26th pick of the first round--not the 8th.  Picking him at 8 was a reach, and people in Green Bay thought picking love at 26 was a bit of a reach (I recall many wondering if he would be a first or second rounder).  Cousins is new--has not even met his teammates.  This will impact the locker room differently.  Since the fans are not that attached to familiar as the Cheeseheads were to Rodgers, Cousins will have a bad game and the controversy will begin.  For that reason, I am not sure they did anything but use a first round pick to weaponize their fan base against the QB they just paid $100m in guaranteed money.  That did not happen in Green Bay--it will happen in Atlanta.  Popcorn is out.
    • Arod wasn't new to the team, nor did he sign 180milion deal with 100 million guarantees. Plus love was a 26th pick, not 8th overall. BTW cousins has a no-trade clause as well.... I think it made arod win the MVP too....which in itself worth the pick... The main point of drafting a rookie is for them to play on that cheap contract. At min penix will play two years from now, thus washing out the good part of his contract. Only way this works if cousins gets re-injured or busts. He will be 26-27 and need another contract by then.  No matter what the saints do, Each cap dollars do matter. It's an awful awful deal no matter the out come. Glad panthers will benefit!!
