Why Panthers Ikem Ekwonu will be The BEST Tackle in the NFL

I remember watching the NFL draft and holding my breath just hoping that IKWM Ekwonu would last until the Panthers were on the clock, saying to those present,  please don't let another team pick him.

It was a pleasant surprise and made my day when he fell to the Panthers. I was overjoyed knowing that the team had finally gotten a top notch offensive tackle that filled a much needed position, one that had been all but vacant for such a long time.

Yup, he was my draft crush, but as the draft grew nearly, the talking heads well nearly in lockstep that Ickey would be the first tackle off the board.  Some great of stroke of luck he fell to us.

Getting baptized by Von Miller was a blessing in disguise. Having Campen there to help breakdown the film afterwards when it could have been another Rhule crony is an even bigger blessing.

Couldn't be more excited for Icky and the OL.

    • To me, this seems like they feel they aren't going to be competitive. I can't help but go back to Bryce. Good guy, but he doesn't inspire people to give it their all. He isn't a "leader" that people look to. There is no Smith, Delhomme, Kuechly, Cam, etc. coming in that door.  It has to be Bryce, but biologically speaking, how often is the shortest man in the room going to command the kind of respect that will drive people? It just isn't. That isn't how we are wired. That isn't how any living animal on Earth today is wired.  I just follow the science guys.
    • Vick's issue with Reid was that he couldn't take a hit, and he wouldn't go down. Otherwise he was pretty good much of the time.  Mahomes has a system that works. Mahomes doesn't become Mahomes elsewhere because not everyone can extract 125% of the ability of a specific player like Reid can. Kevin O'Connell is beginning to look like he has that ability as well but I'll need to see how he does with his Redshirt Freshman.  I also wonder how much of their playoff issue last year was related to the offense as a whole and not just Darnold. Fans don't really dive into the "why" things happen, they just see the what and complain about it.
