Why would he play even if he was healthy.  No point

Frank said that all starters would contribute in some fashion in this game. That's is if they are healthy of course.  You would have to ask Frank about the logic behind that.  He said that as a completely new team they all need some more reps in the new system to get ready for the season.  That includes the coaching staff.

I would assume the logic would largely be tied to trotting out a rookie QB week 1 in a brand new offense.   Bryce Young needs reps.  And you want to protect him by giving him real players.

Last #1 overall pick in Carolina played in all 4 preseason games.

Really? That's a ton of muscle to add even for a professional athlete.

Fitt said "20-25lb in muscle this offseason" and he was saying it with a shocked face when he was telling the story. Said that Chuba was barely recognizeable. Most of these players lose a lot of weight during season bc of the types of training, and switching to a different regimen especially one focusing on muscle growth isn't that hard to believe to be done if you have the frame for it.... especially if you are 24 y/o.

All of Hubbard’s experience in hand, it’s worth noting: this likely won’t be the same Hubbard. He spent most of this offseason, he said, working on gaining weight that won’t go away down the stretch of a 18-week season.

“I’ve definitely gained weight,” Hubbard said. “Just working on getting stronger. These last couple seasons, throughout the season, I’ve lost quite a bit of weight as the season has gone on. And I got a little slimmer, looking like a receiver at times (laughs).

“So I definitely said I have to bulk up a little bit. Obviously still be fast and explosive and all that, so I’ve worked on it. It’s been really good so far.”

Thank you! Well, damn, I’m ready to see him this weekend now.

Sit him till week 1.

and people were raging because I wanted better depth in the backfield a couple weeks ago.  We got a pretty valuable dude at QB that is going to be repping all preseason.    Hope Hubbard's pass pro has improved.

Hard to believe he had that bad high ankle just a couple years ago.  Then sitting behind CMC, and to top it off, Fhules coaching.

It's not too hard to imagine that Chubba could turn into a productive 1b in the right system.  We certainly (hopefully) have a legit O Line, and now a QB that will make defenses respect the passing game (hopefully), I think he could be in for a decent role in this offense.

    • Here's a tough thread to watch through They have Levis and AR as well if you wish to go further into the thread
    • Let's hope so. He's basically said he's sort of an old school run first style coach despite being on the younger side.
