The thing that bothers me with what we've done so far is that my impression of Reich's teams in Indy were hard-nosed, mean, aggressive, smart, fundamentally sound teams that struggled with a ton of turnover and the victims of never having a real franchise QB, so they struggled more than they should have.

The poo we've put on tape the last two weeks is nothing like that.  Supposedly we have our franchise QB in place, even if a rookie, but it's all the other poo going on around it.  Everyone keeps bringing up the vanilla scheme and all that, but our opponents are running bullshit schemes too, and they're still whooping our asses.  The issue really is we are getting beat in almost every matchup, we are not fundamentally sound, we are not aggressive, we are not smart, we are not hard-nosed...  we just look flat, uninspired, and really uninterested.  Yes, again, I'm keeping it in perspective that it's preseason, but I don't know that I've ever been more underwhelmed by a preseason showing in our history, including the Rhule years, which is saying something.

I anticipate the actual scheme and real playcalling is gonna make a big difference and at the very least keep us competitive, but damn...  poo like Ickey looking like complete ass both games, the whole OL looking just as ass, especially the interior...  the defense getting gashed, guys getting beat in coverage, guys not tackling, receivers and Young not being on the same page multiple times in 2 weeks, etc.  It's just all bad.  Just not many things to be encouraged about in what our guys have shown.

But, we'll see what happens come the regular season...  but, no question, this poo has been beyond disappointing.

He had a very different coaching staff in Indianapolis. Here he built an All Star staff. You’d think it would be better but more independent thinking and less Reich influence, overall. Will be a while before we know if it works.

I get having concerns for sure because some things don’t look great. However, I can’t understand writing the team off in games where back ups/maybe practice squad guys play 85% of the game. Even if it’s not fun right now for you guys we still won’t really know till week 1.

I will say though, I do like the rhythm of the offense with Thomas as the playcaller better so far. That dynamic will be interesting when the season rolls around because there was a point in time where Frank Reich was considered one of the better playcalling HC’s in the league.

But yeah, overall I see things that need to be cleaned up but that’s what preseason is for and I know folks may not like to hear that but it’s the truth. Now if they come out flat week 1 vs Atlanta then yeah let’s have a conversation, until then, it is what it is.

no game day thread, people already giving up on the team.

if that ain't a measuring stick for where this fan base is with this product idk what is...

if it's not 21-0 by half, we might be discussing selling the team this weekend.

GOAT you were close. I am starting to think we should start Dalton against the Falcons and let Bryce sit for the game. It might give us a chance to be in the game by Half Time.

Watched the offense with BY in there just now.

OL isn't playing up to their standard, but not the end of the world either, this can be fixed with playing time.  Young looked better, and you can see that we have some guys who can play at wideout, but no real play makers....maybe Chark can stay healthy and the OL can protect a little better...that could be some big plays waiting to happen.  Maybe.

I think the Offense will look better with Miles in there, and I bet we rely heavily on the screen game this year, could be why the OL looks so weird right now?  Who knows.

I think this can be a .500 team, and to be honest, I'd be happy with that, so long as we improve through the season.  Our schedule looks tough to me, but you never really know what teams will look like until a few games in.

I'm worried about the constant pressure on BY, that's the only thing that really concerns me at this point.

The rest is just fluff.

You aren’t alone. I’ll wait for the regular season before I start making judgements.

Not freaking but Bryce is not ready to start. Maybe next year. Let Dalton be given the reigns and next year let Bryce content for the number one slot. Shoot Reich started for us over Collins and in game 4 Collins came in and led the Panthers the rest of the season. Give him 3 games behind Dalton and not force him into games just because he was the #1 pick.

Young was 4-for-6 for 21 yards against the Jets. He led Carolina to only one first down in three series, didn't get the offense past midfield and was 0-for-2 on third down.

Young finished 3-of-6 for 35 yards on two series at MetLife Stadium, making him 7-of-12 for 56 yards in two preseason games.

I will give him credit for having a 70.5% QBR and a total of 3 points. I Said to let him sit till he was ready to take over and let Dalton start the opener against the Falcons. I know he is going against the 1st and 2nd team players. I am sorry he really isn't putting up huge numbers, but the whole team has look bad in their 2 preseason games. I am not blaming Young for the team's troubles. Just saying he is not ready to start and give him some time to eye the game for the first quarter of the season. Are you thinking this team is going to the playoffs.

Look at this play at :13

The ability to read the field, feel the pressure, slide to his left, still keep his eyes down the field, and side arm a pass in between 2 defenders.  It was a close miss because #15 hesitated a bit but plays like that translate, especially as the receivers become more comfortable with Young's style.

Also I know he slipped but my goodness that evade at :49.

If you aren't impressed by Young then I don't know what to tell you.  His game translates to the NFL.  There are few exceptions but you want your QB to be a playmaker and that is what he is.

I don't know what to expect out of him as a rookie.  Not sure his numbers will look great.  But if he continues to show traits like this, then there is no doubt in my mind we are looking at our franchise QB.

    • Well, he either plays well or we suck again and get the #1 pick and get our new QB for next year.  Im not stressing.
    • the way it should be. the way it has to be.  when you get a rookie (no matter where he is drafted), you don't expect him to play like a vet or even get a grasp on NFL offenses like a vet. if you intend to have him running the offense, you build the offense around what they do and what clicks.  not Young's fault, but he was sold as someone who would be a rookie but has the mind of a seasoned vet. guess what...he wasn't. reich and "his" crew had no idea how to work with a rookie QB or groom one. they thought they knew, but they didn't and it was obvious in the lack of plan they had for him. their plan was to treat him like he was a seasoned vet. even with that, i don't think they had any clear vision not just with Bryce, but with the offense. There was no cohesion between all the various coaches. nothing fit together and reich wasn't a strong enough leader to pull it all together.  i like the approach of starting over with the fundamentals and i think it's good for any new coaching staff or new QB to a system. you don't know what to expect so you start from the beginning to make sure you're on the same page from the beginning. and as you get more used to each other, you learn what works, what could really work well, and what won't work and you form the playbook around that. contrast that with chud who had been working on a playbook for years and just wanted to use it regardless of whether the situation called for it or the personnel he had (on the team or even on the field) fit what he wanted to call.   or last year when we had coaches from completely different backgrounds trying to put something together that was supposed to be a blend of what each brought to the table, but just ended up being a sloppy predictable mess that didn't fit anyone on the team, QB, WRs, and OL.
    • I've always been super pumped up for the upcoming season but I've never been so uninterested in a new season. After six years under Dipper I've been left at end of season drunken and wallowing in my own piss... not invested in the team right now but hope Canales and Morgan make a good team together...
