Awesome contract, even if we wanted to move him before it’s up he’s a valuable asset in a trade on this contract.

I think I’ve lost track on what is a good contract so I’ll take your word on it. But sounds like a lot for someone who is probably better of coming of the bench.

it's short and only 16m/yr

look at the players around him and those with bigger contracts than him, plenty of guys I take PJ over in a heartbeat and he is still young with potential. He averaged over 15pts/game last year on ok %s, is solid defensively and on the boards, even if he doesn't get any better, this contract is not an issue and easily tradeable if need be.

He may be better off the bench but there are plenty of guys who do come off the bench making more so that wouldn't make it a bad contract. And as is I think this should be our starting 5:

PG: LaMelo

SG: Miller

SF: Miles

PF: PJ

C: Mark

Meh....not really excited about this because im not high on PJ and i absolutely did not want to overpay for him. I think he has underachieved since his rookie year. Thing is, i actually was high after his rookie year cuz he showed a lot of promise then the inconsistency started. Miles ended up jumping ahead of him far as a priority player so i thought we would never end up keeping both. I will say this deal is pretty reasonable so im not pissed and he can be traded in the future easily with a deal like this.

Meh we're not doing much in the foreseeable future I could see him improving just as much as I could see him remaining the same inconsistent player he's been to this point. But I like PJ. I'd rather pay guys like him than have bums like Hayward keeping the bench warm all season for a hundred plus million.

    • I am just saying that there are realistic alternatives to the Dan is totally Fitterer in all his opinions and incapable of his own mind. Because we don’t know what really happened.     And your job is to support your boss even if you aren’t 100% in agreement.  And further you do not publicly dissent.  Publicly meaning when more than just the two of you are around.    ISO believe he is doing Tepper’s bidding on a lot of things and I believe it was very likely as a new hire, in 2024.  If I were to speculate further I would think that Canales has a big say in the offensive evaluations and Dan might not feel like he should be flatly overruling him since he is not an offensive guy. Any differences of opinion, if Canales feels strongly about an evaluation or decision Dan would be more likely to go with Dave than to overrule.    But can’t claim to know anything with any certainty.    I do think Dan showed us some solid work in this draft.    I also am WTF no QB competition. But I know we agree that it wouldn’t take much to show Bruce up and it seems like they were avoiding that.   In the big picture of the developmental arc they may have decided on, maybe that was okay for year two. It will absolutely not be okay for next year. And Canales has brought Hookernin so that is a small move in the direction we wanted them to go.
    • Just to be clear no one in the front office at the time before or immediately following the 2023 draft including Fitterer Morgan or Reich was saying Bryce Young would need the highest paid OL in the entire league which we now have just to look halfway serviceable.
    • Come on dude, he's only 2 spots below SB champ Hurts. That's awesome!
