He’s actually posted his rumors he’s hearing before, he’s been right on a few occasions. I apologize, I cannot remember which rumors he was right about though.

It's iffy apparently the last tweet was from June? One of those believe it or don't situations.

But seeing that Burns is in uniform at practice lends credence to the notion they are likely ironing out a contract behind the scenes. Just have to wait it out.

If it's ~28mil as Hampton's tweet suggests, I hope it's "up to 28 million" based on incentives. ~$23-24mil base would be great.

I got to ask, why?

In the cap, as I understand it so please correct me if my info is wrong, LBTE (likely to be earned) incentives count against the cap, and are then refunded the following year if not met.  So the incentives count anyway.  We already have $51m in space for 2024.

So it really doesn't matter much if it's with incentives or not.  It's  going to be $28 million regardless.  Burns also wouldn't sign a deal with incentives that he couldn't meet.  He has the leverage at this point, not the Panthers.  We need him, and there are plenty of other teams who'd gladly spend the money on him.

I like two things about incentivizing the contracts:

1) knowing we’ll be paying a more appropriate amount based upon on-field performances if thresholds aren’t met, and…

2) still giving players some monetary bonuses to strive for excellent performance after big pay days.

I'm just being realistic. He actually disappears when it "counts", but yes he is going to get paid like he does. I like Burns, he's just a frustrating player because of the constant whiffs.

Kind of reminds me when we overpaid for Charles Johnson. Seemed like it was better to have him than not even at a premium.
