he's like an AI QB. knows what reads to make and tries to throws receivers open but it's way too obvious. like watching a robot; "MAKE READ, TURN HEAD, THROW BALL BEFORE RECEIVER OPEN" real players can read that like a book, which Bates did twice.

Yeah it was awful when he went 6/6 and drove us down the field for a Td in the first half.  Hate seeing that kind of methodical play that results in points.

unfortunately one good drive in the beginning of the game won't cut it in this league Kemosabe

Aside from the two bad INTs he looked okay. Not great, not terrible. Just okay. The miss deep from the 1 was tough. You have to hit that throw at this level. Mingo (I think it was Mingo) was NFL wide open with two steps on the DB and Bryce was in a clean pocket. You HAVE to hit on that.

What disappointed me is when you make the type of huge move we made to get a guy you're wanting to at least see a few splash plays that make you think "Okay, yeah that was special. I see why this is a guy we felt like we had to go all in on." I just didn't see any of those types of plays. I still see a guy with very marginal NFL physical tools who is going to have to be NFL Einstein level intelligent (and likely surrounded by a top tier supporting cast) to be special.

It was literally visible on his face multiple times. Maybe rattled is a poor word to use but very, very clearly frustrated most of the game. That was very obvious.

I mean, we all were frustrated. Young couldn't find anyone open to get the ball, and he probably knew he was gonna get blamed for that (as he continues to get blamed for it). If he didn't lob it out of bounds, we'd be blaming the OL for 8 sacks, when it was really just good coverage of slow WRs and TEs.

He didn’t look great today, but he’s a Rookie in his first ever NFL game. I think (as always in life) the truth lies somewhere in the middle between the homer bias of “he looked good today” and the pessimistic take of “he’s a bust after 1 game.”

Personally, I had 3 main takeaways.

1) Not sure if this has been mentioned, but I think the first pick happened because of his height. He started getting swallowed by the OL and I’m not convinced he could see the exact situation he was throwing into. He had too many 6’6” trees a foot away. Bates baited him well. Rookies throw picks, though. It’s going to happen.

2) I’m more concerned about the 2 missed deep bombs. You just have to hit those. Period. Those are game breaking plays and honestly could’ve turned the tide so that the picks didn’t matter in the end.

3) Bryce needs time to gain chemistry with the receivers. There were a handful of times they just didn’t break when/how he expected them to. That’s not really as concerning to me because I think it’ll get cleaned up easily with more live game reps.

I guess Bryce “looking rattled” is the new “cam has a towel on his head”.

both those things are ok.

Let’s judge Bryce in December.  Then we will know if he’s growing or not . Till then just relax and stop trying to decide after 1 game. No one knows.

Clearly rattled? When?

People just pulling made up crap out of their azz at this point.

Yes, The Rookie Bryce wasn’t perfect.

He did throw 2 ints.  The others, the WRs couldn’t get separation.

Lets not act like the other rookie QBs didn’t have a great day either.

Stroud had 0 TDs and lost a Fumble.

And the Mega Man Richardson threw a int and despite him being the opposite of our tiny QB that some swear can’t hold up.  Richardson couldn’t even make it out of 1 NFL game without getting hurt.

All 3 QBs lost as well.

    • Well bois, we gave the Devils their due! Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery... The jersey boys have been trying to jack our steeze for a few years now. They've followed our blueprints and studied our tape. Every offseason, they pounce on our sloppy seconds in a Newark minute. Quick with the puck, ferocious on the forecheck and stifling team defense. Down to the colors, this is this closest we'll come to having to play ourselves in Ole Stanley's Hockey Hoedown. As the postseason began, Rod stood flexing in the gym mirror and saw this guy staring back from the void... (Shutters) When beating us at our game didn't work, Timo and the Tri-State Trash tried to tango instead. Outside of a bitchass cheapshot on Freddie, that poo didn't work either. Their goon squad was getting wrecked by our bantam weights. As much as we all wanted to see Svechy or Staal Bunyan literally break someone in half after the Great Dane went down, they didnt need to. Our munchkins were monsters! Jarvis obliterating giants at the blue line, Logan laying the Stank on dudes twice his size and Blakers blasting Timo into next season. It was beautiful to see! (Side note: Does JBlo wear lead weights under his pads? 170lbs shouldn't be able to hit that hard!) We closed it out in 5, for the gentleman's sweep. Only team in the league to win a series in each of the past 7(?) seasons! And, this was supposed to be a rebuilding year... Onto the awards: Key To The Series : 6 for 19 - .316% IT FINALLY WORKED!!! MVP : 16/180 g/s - .911 save% - 2.53 gaa Seriously, without this dude, we would've won in 3! (Trust me bro) 3rd Star : 6/94 g/s - .936 save % - 1.59 gaa The Great Dane   2nd Star : 3 g - 5 a - +1 - 20:38 toi/g - 18 hits - 3 bs - 58.1% fo 3 PP goals and the 2OT series winning goal! WOOAAAHHH NELLY!!!!   And, your 1st Star of the series : 5 g - 1 a - +3 - 16:48 toi/g - 16 hits - 1 bs - 1 tk - 50% fo Zero, I repeat, zero penalty minutes for the series! MISSSTAAAHHH SVEEECHNIKOOOV!!!!!! Onto The Next: Now, we wait for the Habs to make it a nasty 7 game slog, while we recuperate. And, hopefully, get Nikishin, and some of the other black aces some real peactice time. We are gonna need those guys at some point. Because, if you think the Devils were dirty, hoooo boy, wait till you see what's next...
