Next year WR options

Very early but after seeing our group Sunday I think it’s safe to say this will be a priority along with CB.

Top 3 free agents I’d like to see us target:

-Tee Higgins, Michael Pittman, Calvin Ridley. I imagine no way JAX lets Ridley walk but we know Higgins will be available if not traded. Wouldn’t mind seeing us overpay him for 3 years while we have Bryce cheap.

Top 3 realistic draft targets:

-Keon Coleman, Xavier Worthy, Malik Nabors. Worthy is my choice here, true speed guy that can stretch the field. I’m not sure he makes it to the second round but if he does I’d be ecstatic with that pick.

Who are you targeting for next year?

I would like to see a trade for Brandon Aiyuk next year. Don’t see how 9ers can afford to resign him in 2025. Long shot, but I would consider doing it for our 2nd round pick.

unfortunately I don't see them trading him till after this season, next year we wont have our 2nd so really no way to get him.

I was trying to say next year as he is entering his final year, also the year we have our 2nd. It’s a long shot for sure. But I would see what it would take. Next year is the year to trade for a stud WR for Bryce.

Van Jefferson- Maybe takes a discount to play for his dad. Nice # 3/4 WR

Curtis Samuel-Would welcome him back if not too expensive. Run the gadget plays for Viksa and not super slow

Mecole Hardman- hasnt lived up to his potential but man is he fast

KJ Osborn- With Jefferson and Addison there assume they'll let him walk. Another 3/4 WR option

I dont see us getting a true WR #1 next year.

I have my eye on Rashod Bateman and his usage in Baltimore. He’s another injury-plagued WR with some upside which we clearly don’t mind targeting.

If Chark doesn’t work out, we can probably get Bateman for cheap before the deadline if Flowers keeps eating into his targets.  We’d have him on his rookie contract in 2024 and 5th year option available if he produces and is healthy.

lol we might be in some trouble.

You can go ahead and take Ridley off that list. If we don't get Higgins we are in panic mode.

Pittman is barely a #2 WR.

Draft is a gamble we have no 1st rd pick anyway.

Pittman’s stats are right there with DJ Moore

We don't really know yet how our current corps is going to finish or how the college crop will end up looking.

Definitely too early...

Not too early. We know for a fact this group won't be set for next year. The only question is can Mingo develop into a 1 and TMJ a 2. Hopefully one of those 2 happen

    • For Bryce’s obvious shortcomings (bad pun), there is upside to his game. This isn’t being a homer or apologists, but I like to consider myself fair in criticism.  He’s far tougher than I ever thought he’d be. I really thought homie would have been broken in half by now. I don’t know how he’s not, but he’s not.  He is prone to turning the ball over early in games which digs a huge hole the team is not built to come back from, but dude DOES come up with crucial first down in crucial situations. It’s NEVER pretty, but he just kind of has the shining. He gets bailed out LOTS, and the team still loses games because of him, but he’s a bit of an enigma. He’s a turnover machine that is clutch in big moments.  He’s a smart/elusive cat. He kind of has to be with his limitations. His audibles are almost always correct and he understands coverages. I don’t see him getting fooled too frequently. His turnovers are almost never the ‘damnit Jake/Cam!’ brand we have been accustomed to. They are ALWAYS due to his size/strength limitations.  Strip sacks that shouldn’t be. Picks that happened because he just don’t got that NFL arm. He is still prone to panicking and the wheels can and do fall off at a much higher rate than his peers.  The team is winning on the backs of the defense, running game and special teams… but they’re winning, and unbelievably 1 game behind Tampa. As long as this is happening and Bryce doesn’t go full meltdown, Dave is going to keep him in. He is not getting pulled.
    • This was a terrible podcast. A bunch of uninformed homers that had worse takes than the bottom 10% of the Huddle. I listened to a handful of podcasts this past offseason in search of new Panthers material since John Ellis doesn't do his pod anymore and The 4 Man Rush don't either. Immediately deleted it after the handful I listened to. Truly terrible.
    • The NFC South was so bad it sent a team with a losing record to the Playoffs that year. Wilks had players playing hard at the end but let’s not act like that was a good season. That season hurts even more now that we see in hindsight how good our QB situation was. We just didn’t know it.
