I have always liked Sherman as a speaker, and when I clicked this video I really expected Keyshawn to vouch for Bryce, and Sherman rip Bryce. However, it was the exact opposite. Keyshawn sounds like an absolute moron in my opinon in this video, he is still stuck on size... I guess he got the short end of the stick by the producers. His arugments are pretty flat and his supporting evidence is borderline made up.

 

We are all emotionally invested, so we have reactions and most of our's come from a place of anger... bc we hate to lose. Hearing Sherman's take as a modern defensive player was valuable for me and helped me get grounded this am. A good listen if you have the time.

Good post, watched this earlier and it was a nice perspective. 

i, like many, had some doubt creep in last night but have tried to keep some context in mind.

-We’re 2 games in, one of which was in a *loud* ATL stadium at home for his first start, and the other against an *elite* defense in NO. Some concern is warranted/understandable but to outright say he’s a bust after two games is complete lunacy. 

- If Bryce doesn’t overthrow Mingo last week for the TD, or Mingo doesn’t drop that pass that hits him in the hands to get in the red zone yesterday, or TMJ doesn’t let up on that route last week, we’d probably be having bit different kind of a convo. Playing “what if” is useless, but I think the amount of near-hits is more indicative Bryce needing to work on and finding his timing with our guys and a lack of perimeter talent than him not being able to throw deep. 
 

- I think a lot of the “deflation” of the fan base is also due to seeing CJ Stroud have a better start and seeing how Howell is doing in WAS. I get it - I wanted Howell in that draft as well, and was team Stroud before really digging into the draft. But you can’t let FOMO and “the grass is always greener” color your entire evaluation of someone - like I said before, it’s been 2 games. We’ve got a lot of chapters to go before either of their books are written. 
 

do I wish he came in and out up 400 and some touchdowns week one or two? Of course, but the kid is a rookie and it’s not like he looked like Zach Wilson. 
 

bryce very well could bust, not denying that, but I’m not gonna give up hope on the kid two weeks into his career. 
 

at least we didn’t trade for deshaun. Shits looking dark in Cleveland rn.

It's not even that he's just small, he doesn't even have the athleticism to make up for it. He not only got sacked by a shoulder brush, but got ran down by like he was a child a couple of times.

There should be SOMETHING tangible to point to when you draft a guy 1 overall. I don't doubt he's going to play better moving forward, but giving up so much for such a low ceiling is ridiculous.

I keep expecting more quickness from him. But he can't see to turn a corner and out run DEs that are in chase.

This is what's concerning to me, he's going to have to be the reincarnate of Drew Brees for this to work. 

Kyle Murray is small but you better not let him hit that corner or he's gone. 

He's going to need to be able to dictate to defenses presnap to make up for his physical limitations and right now the defenses are dictating to him.

Brees was always the comp you want with Bryce.  Gotta give him at least the full season but I'm frustrated with the entire organizational build at the moment.  Hopefully he gets better because if not we have at least another season of suck but more than likely 3-5

It’s bad…we all know it’s bad but are in different stages of coping.

Denial - he will be just fine

Anger - the fug is going on 

Bargaining - if we get him weapons/better coaching he will be better.

Depression - why can’t they make things work

Acceptance - we just gonna keep on sucking

      If you draft a guy who is healthy and has no concerns about that whatsoever and he goes out and tears his ACL in his first few games in the regular season on a physical play that's a freak accident. But when you trade up to draft an RB who is already rehabbing from a recent ACL tear and he spends the next several months continuing his rehab only to tear the same ACL again after less than a handful of regular season carries in a non contact circumstance that is no freak accident. That is a textbook example of why you do not do what we did. Particularly for what is now a plug and play position. And when you have the highest paid OL in the league over the next two years. None of that makes any logical sense. Legitimately it is and was some Scott Fitterer type foolishness. Now as for XL. The guy has not been committed to his craft. I think anyone with eyes on the situation can and would recognize that. However the warning signs were there. One season of legit production raw prospect that we knew would take time to develop etc. But Morgan and Bryce Young's own father were very high on him. I think in some capacity the reality of our limitation at QB is entering into the equation. Even TMac got a lot of flak over the course of his rookie season for not being able to haul in all of Bryce's passes. At the end of the day our fourth year QB also needs to do his part to maximize the talent we have available. As far as this year. Again. WR round 1 boils down to where are we going to get the touches for the rookie? That would require eating into not only our 8th overall picks touches but also our #2 WR whom oh yeah by the way was UNDRAFTED. I am happy to discuss WR prospects here. I was thrilled we invested what we did last year in TMac because it needed to be done and it made sense from all angles. But nowhere is it written in stone that you cannot draft a good or great WR outside of the first round. Except in the Panthers building apparently. That is not a good reflection on our scouts and front office let me tell ya. Because there's no way on this earth we are going to get back to relevancy and legitimate contender status if we can't pick some gems in the later rounds. Simple and plain.
