How can anyone expect to have a knock your socks off interview for the most important hire of your franchise through zoom? I think it's because we were impatient that was just an excuse. All we had to do was wait until the Super Bowl was over. Just foolishness.

Its was fuging insane at the time and even more insane now.

I don’t think trading for Darnold was bad either; it’s giving a talented guy another shot under the belief he got a raw deal in NY. It was a gamble, and I don’t mind taking a chance

But based on what he had done in the league, we paid too much, and that was apparent from the jump. And it was more than a 2nd rounder. Wasn’t it a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th? Something like that.

You don’t give up that much to a team that is obviously drafting a new QB with the 2nd pick in the draft. GM 101 kinda stuff

Which is funny because the premise for drafting was the fact that he did more with less compared to Stroud. Stroud was knocked for having too much, now its shifted in the league.

Bryce did more with less? Bryce played at Alabama.

But better equipped to deal with a bad situation is about physical size/skill sets.  Bryce needs to be hit the least is the most traditional pocket player of the bunch.

I can’t remember if I’ve I stated my own conspiracy (well I don’t know if it’s a conspiracy), I think we never wanted him at all. I think we never wanted anyone after interviewing Frank, but Frank, everything else was for show. Including Payton. My guess, Payton was to sort of to pick his brain or ask advice. Johnson, Steichen and Ryans, and il admit it, Payton, we’re my choices for HC. Not a guy who got fired by the colts. I hope he proves me wrong.

Go back and check the receipts, plenty of people were saying that here and other places. Even evaluators said it, i understood that even with Bryce playing at Alabama he had a better team around him than most of the teams they played. Also, i always thought stroud was the best pure pocket pass out the bunch. One of Bryce's issues is he tries to improvise when he doesn't need too.

"Young’s average of 4.2 yards per attempt is the third-lowest for a player’s first two games NFL history with a minimum of 50 attempts, according to ESPN Stats & Info."

I knew it was bad but damn sir

Yes, he hasn't been just bad.... its historically bad. Which i didn't even expect.

Picking up that 5th year option without Darnold even taking a snap first was the first bloody red flag for me.

I mean imagine if they didn’t pick it up. 3 draft picks for a one year rental project? He either sucks and you wasted picks or he plays well and you have to pay him 30+M a year. It was a lose lose lose situation from day one

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
