Should Chuba be the #1 RB

There seems to be some confusion on here about Chuba and Miles. Chuba is not a quick burst type of runner, he is north and south and needs to build up his speed as he goes. Miles is a quick burst runner, quicker than Chuba. You may like Chuba's burst at the line more than Miles', but Miles is quicker and faster and has more burst. The problem is what they are seeing at the line and that's effecting how they look. Chuba knows what he's seeing at the ling and makes a quick decision to hit the hole and try and build up speed and power. Miles looks at the line and he's unsure what he's seeing or what to do. He's not anticipation which hole is about to open. This leads to indecision, hesitation, false steps, and missed opportunities. That doesn't mean that Chuba has better burst. He doesn't. He's probably just smarter than miles at reading what is going on, or Miles is still learning the offense.

Please don't expect big rushing lanes to open and stay open against all the teams we play this season. It's a sliding scale and it varies based on the strength and speed of the run defense we're facing. Sometimes a hole opens and closes quickly, and that's where anticipation and quick decision making comes into play, and that's why Miles is looking overpaid. If he were processing the situation quickly then the o-line would look a lot better. We're not just going to open big rushing lanes that stay open against every team we play. If that were the case, then every game we play would look like the Falcons game last season and we'd go 17-0. A RB has to make hay even when there isn't much there, which was what made CMC great.

You mean like the outstanding  Eagles Oline did for him?.... if he is waiting for that, then good luck.

The fact this is even being discussed is the very reason I wanted us to being in another RB.  I was told nooooooo, Blackshear is a hidden gem and Chuba would be better.  Chuba is Chuba--mediocre, and Sanders isn't a world beater (we all knew this) being the very reason why we should be deeper at RB.  There was decent FA RBs we could have had for cheap all the way up to the regular season.  If that meant Hubbard got bumped to #3, so be it.  Blackshear is a PS guy and if he got poached had we bumped him for another RB, then oh well, not a big loss.

Never thought I would ask this question, but with our sorry running game...maybe it's time.

Sanders was a product of an eagles team with a great Oline and good overall offense. What rose colored glasses Fitts was wearing when he signed him, I don't know.

They may be looking at the $$$ spent to sign Sanders. It wouldn't be the first time they pissed $$$ away. I am not crazy about Chuba, but he gets the job done at five yards (+/-) a carry, can't catch a cold unfortunately.

Sanders hasn't done much either rushing or catching out the backfield so far. Is it the play calling or sh*tty line play, who knows.

Regardless, Chuba needs more carries and use Sanders out the backfield In certain situations.

Bryce needs a running game.....period.

$24 million for a back-up RB? Putting Chuba at number one would be an admission that paying Sanders was wrong and they aren't going there in Week 3. Young's fantasy ankle injury may be some admission on behalf of the Panthers but you can't also do that with Sanders.

there is a good reason why Philly let Miles Sanders walk from a team that is in Win now mode...just saying he is not a game changer...

Sanders is an early down committee RB.  And not great.  Good.  Philly already told us that.

    • Have you seen the mock drafts lately?   Most of them have us taking a QB. Just because you aren't high on these QBs doesn't mean the Panthers or other teams aren't.   If you want me to be real I just think you a Tmac homer and all you care about is us drafting him. It's why you get so defensive when people mention other prospects.   Be open to other people's ideas. Nobody in this thread is saying anything bad about your boy Tmac.
    • Oh good lord Interest doesn't mean interest in making a bad trade to take the player, that's why I had such a long post, to accurately describe why those are two different things, but you don't like to listen to that stuff.  Being interested in a player doesn't live in a vacuum. It's very simple... there isn't a #1 draft pick type of grade on any of these QB's, if there was, we'd just take them.  You can't bluff a pick everyone knows you won't make, and trying to trade the pick is the CLEAR signal that you're not taking the QB. Just because the Raiders would have interest, doesn't mean they're going to bail us out of a situation we don't want to be in, they'd be smart about it and just sit put, let us take a non QB as we'd be telling the world we're not taking one just by trying to trade the pick, and then they'd take him at #2 (either with their own pick or by trading less to get that one). Oh, and your point of "if nobody is willing to make the trade, you obviously just take the best QB" is quite literally the dumbest thing I've ever read on here. If nobody is willing to trade up to take the QB, then it's OBVIOUS that the QB isn't worth taking with that pick, so OBVIOUSLY taking the best QB there is just OBVIOUSLY stupid and a bad pick. The moral of it is if there is a QB worth taking, we're taking them and not making the trade.  If there isn't a QB worth taking there, nobody is trading up to #1 to take one, we just showed the NFL how bad of an idea that is 2 years ago, it's really not hard to see. You keep making up this mythical situation where there is a QB who has shown to be worth trading up to #1 for and we'll be able to leverage that into a trade.  But we're the most QB needy team in the league, if we end up with the #1 pick, either we are taking a QB #1 or no QB is going #1 unless we get VERY lucky and two teams in the Top 5 fall in love with one prospect and we can play them off each other and fleece one of them. But again, I can't see that happening, as if there was a QB worthy of that, we're just taking him ourselves.
    • Sanders is with Tom Brady brand and that's his mentor. The Raiders owner was with Sanders taking pics at a Vegas game together.   It doesn't take much to connect the dots that Vegas will be interested in Sanders as their franchise QB. Oh yeah and guess who hasa small ownership stake in the Raiders Tom Brady.   I guess this is just another made up Madden idea by me huh?
