and the qb you didnt want is absolutely dragging you down

I think that Reich mainly accepted the job not because it was the most ideal spot but he simply needed a job and I'm guessing there weren't a ton of other teams who were willing to hire a coach that got canned mid season for Jeff Saturday to be the interim coach.

It's possible tepper told him ahead of time in the interviews that he was a "hands on" owner and frank just took it anyway.

Wilks would have improved the D but still would have had an outdated O. I don't even want to think about Wilks O and Bryce together, I couldn't think of worse pairings.

Steichen was the most attainable and best option but again if Bryce was still a lock then I don't know how much he could have done with so little. Better sure but nothing to dream about. With Dalton it would have been solid but Bryce has so many limitations that it's almost a mercy they went with Frank who is going to get retired by this mess.

Johnson is going to make a good coach. He knew what this all was and said no thank you. Smart, smart man.

Nah, If Wilks was still here, we'd still have Darnold as QB1 (admittedly, he looked much improved with Wilk) and would have probably picked up Carter or a CB at #9. We still would have had our '24 picks too! lmao!

watch bryces eyes, he stares down mingo and that allows jacobs to make the play

Yeah he should just be reading Jacobs but it’s never there. Regardless of arm strength this concept to the left is dead.

Thomas would’ve been better running his route at 3 yards depth or just jetting out to the sideline at the LOS. It also doesn’t help that it’s Ian Thomas. You can sag off Thomas and recover easily so it’s just a terrible concept to run with these two at these depths

I hope everyone who’s losing it on Frank realizes that this is all Tepper. It’s also becoming more and more obvious Bryce was Teppers pick and is being coddled/shielded.

It won’t matter who we bring in to coach or manage this team until Tepper removes himself from all football operations.

The only reason we had a sliver of success under Wilks is because he went against everything Tepper has been asking for / wanting. Tepper has been adamant about wanting a new school offensive approach and Wilks was the polar opposite. Even during the hiring process, any time Wilks was mentioned to Tepper you could tell he was never being seriously considered.

It’s Tepper’s way or the highway.

Yep. This poo show will just continue as long as Tepper's peanut brain and giant ego have a say. Fitterer's last three first round picks are Bryce Young, Ikem Ekwonu, and Jaycee Horn. At least he won't get to ruin a first round pick this year. His second rounders don't seem so bad other than Mingo.  We could have had Rashee Rice (same large frame etc) ten picks later than Mingo.

Wilks wanted to keep Holcomb on as DC I don't recall the names for OC but once you got past the hype around his local ties the vibe was Ron Rivera redux. He probably would have been better than Reich but there's some revisionist history being applied to make Wilks something he wasn't.

That's not what was rumored. It was posted on here somewhere right after the interviews.

Who knows? There were a lot of rumors floating around at the time. I thought Reich tried to hire the qb coach from the eagles as OC? That's how I remember it anyway.

Sorry to tell you but Tepper and Fritterer are still here and I don't think much would have changed. Hell if Wilks would have stopped that trade he would have been worth it but that isn't his MO. Hell he took the HC job in Arizona and didn't even pick his staff.

    • Yep. It was an obvious red flag that a lot of people ignored. The results/scores in preseason don’t matter, but individual performance very much does and individually, we looked like the least talented team in the league and it carried over.
    • Sorry, but in 2015, we didn’t look like poo to the extent of 2023. People who said it’s just preseason were completely wrong. Simple as that. 2015 was a veteran lead team. It was Cam’s 5th year and Luke’s 4th. Even our OL was 80% the same (added Oher) as the great run to finish 2014 with a playoff win. That year can be labeled as preseason doesn’t matter because I’m sure we rested vets and well, Ron/Mike weren’t putting in special plays, etc. I absolutely don’t recall a bunch of us saying that Turner was getting killed on one on ones or that Luke was completely out of position or that Norman was hurt again but probably fine. The only thing that was right about the 2023 preseason is that the minority of us who saw it, were correct that we A) should have been making Young and others play 100% of the reps as there was nothing to hide and B) the preseason means nothing was a bunch of BS trying to stay optimistic when it was obvious that we had way less good talent than the rest of the NFL.
    • You are telling me Paul Maurice is a better coach than Rod??? Yes!!!  It’s because he plays a better system and has a better goalie.   Our system sucks in playoffs and he refuses to roll with Koochie. Dallas cowboys level poo
