Not suggesting this as a preferred alternative, but it crossed my mind so I'm curious to people's thoughts...

What if the suggested offer involved a first, an additional mid-round pick and Jahmyr Gibbs rather than Williams?

Id rather have that than Williams. Gibbs would be a much better safety valve than anything we have right now.

I keep thinking of this place shitting on Fitt for the CJ Henderson and a 5th for Arnold and a 3rd trade.

That was a year removed from CJ being a top 10 pick.

Now a lot of people are okay trading for Williams based on his draft status, while showing far less than CJ had in the NFL.

I would love to take a flyer on Williams, but the inconsistency is pretty funny.

I would take any first for Burns right now.  Williams is just an interesting throw in.

For the record, I wasn't in that camp. Relatively low risk-high reward trades don't bother me at all.

I'd be OK with it, but I'd rather have Williams. Young receivers with first round talent are a great commodity in the NFL if they work out. RBs, even talented ones, come much easier, and a run game can be executed with  mid level talents, and by committee. Lastly, we'd miss the benefit of familiarity which can be kinda underrated if you look at Hurts and Smith as well Tua and Waddle. That familiarity angle is why I also proposed trying to acquire Metchie.

Send them Burns, Chinn, and Sanders for their 2024 1st, 2024 2nd, J Gibbs, and Brian Branch.

Only to select a pass rusher to replace him.lmao

If we trade Burns we need more than a 1st. We would be selling low, but then again this is Tepper and selling low on Burns wouldn't shock me.

100% do the deal. 2 net first round assets for Burns is a win.

    • Another source: NFL Rumors: Hakeem Butler to Visit Panthers After UFL Success, Wade Phillips' Praise ZACH BACHAR JUNE 10, 2024 The Carolina Panthers are expected to conduct a workout with UFL wide receiver Hakeem Butler, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Butler recorded a league-leading 652 receiving yards as a member of the St. Louis Battlehawks. He was previously a fourth-round draft pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2019. After the Battlehawks were defeated by the San Antonio Brahmas in the XFL Conference title game, Brahmas head coach and longtime NFL coach Wade Phillips told the receiver that "I'm going to tell everybody in the NFL that I talk to that you need to be playing," via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. Despite the loss by St. Louis, Butler still hauled in six receptions for a team-high 59 receiving yards. The 28-year-old was named the 2024 UFL Offensive Player of the Year, as he was one of only two wideouts to have multiple games with at least 100 receiving yards. While the Panthers added Diontae Johnson and first-round rookie Xavier Legette to their wide receiver room in the offseason, they could still use some depth in the form of Butler. Carolina isn't opposed to picking up former UFL players, as Rapoport revealed on Thursday that the team is also "expected" to sign All-UFL receiver Daewood Davis. Although Butler was selected by the Cardinals in the 2019 draft, he did not play as a rookie due to a hand injury and only appeared in two regular-season games as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020. He did not record a catch. Butler signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 2023 offseason, although he ultimately didn't make the team's regular-season roster. At 6'5", he has the frame to potentially make an impact in training camp and earn a shot at making Carolina's 53-man roster. If his workout goes well with the Panthers, Butler could give himself another chance to possibly return to the NFL.
    • They have all the rookies. The DC game has Ron though. With the new QB. It is weird.  pantherclaw, Bryce sort of is what he is, and in Madden he makes throws the real Bryce can’t make. Here and there. He ain’t ain’t a top QB in Madden though, lots of picks. aone of them lol was the throw that scares the hell out of me when he throws it, out to the boundary... quack quack.
