I see people saying well he's getting double teamed all the time and there's no one else stepping up around him. I never saw him doubled yesterday at all.

He doesn't get double teamed (at least not to a noticeable degree, I'm sure some advanced stat somewhere will say he is).

He occasionally gets chipped - but generally he's not given any special attention.

his low production is by evero design to get him to take less money.  were not winning the superbowl this year but if we can bring burns expectation down a little we can resign him to a team friendly deal.

No way that is true. That sounds like a conspiracy movie. He just isnt consistent, its as simple as that

2 1sts and pick 36 in the last draft. It was such a good offer

Also, for those of you who always say edge rushers are so hard to find, blah, blah. Just like Reddick was a FA a couple year ago like Judon as well, I’m watching Leonard Floyd who has 6.5 sacks this year after being released by the Rams this offseason. It’s really not as hard as people think and the rest of the bounty would have been nice for Young to get some weapons.

hell yes youre right. That trade was AMAZING now looking at it from today and I wish we would have jumped on it fast.

It was amazing. Floyd is $9M this season and will likely be a but more than half of what we pay Burns longer term.

I’m glad for Moore looking great this year but we should have traded him for Green Bay’s 1st last year as well compared to the pick swap (2nd instead of 1st) we got this year. We lost a ton of value by waiting and trying to win our putrid division. I wanted to make the playoffs because hell, we didn’t do any trades but even if we made it, we get stomped by Dallas like Tampa did.

I too get upset with Burns when during gamedays when it seems more often than not he's invisible for 75% of it, but looking at it in a way that's charitable to Burns:

Burns: 7 TFL, 9 QB hits, 4 sacks, 1 FF

Bosa: 5 TFL, 16 QB hits, 2.5 sacks, 1 PD

Bosa is hitting the QB more but Burns has more TFL and has actually brought QBs down at a more frequent pace.

Besides that ONE quarter in the FIRST half against failcons, hes barely been on the radar.

The tag is looking like a gift at this stage.

Yea he and his camp can claim "hes playing hurt", so is 100% of the others brah.

Hes had other matchup favors and still get no results.

    • I just don't think some guys have it. Darnold has the panic gene. I don't think there's any fixing it. He looks really good as long as the play develops as drawn up or if he gets pressured immediately and has to go to his check down right away. It's when he has decent protection and his first read isn't open and he's standing back there in the pocket with that panic slowly building. That's when he does disastrous poo.
    • based on the QBs drafted #1 comparison thread, he’s right where he should be. if your expectations were to have a rookie lead us to the playoffs without an OL and WR corps, maybe your expectations were a bit off.
    • at some point, though, you just have to suck it up and accept it and deal with the bad deal you got.  you go through funks where you keep making mistakes and hope that you get it figured out sometime soon, but in the learning process you realize you could have done some things better but you're stuck with decisions you make. you have two choices...whine about it or just brush it off and hope can make the situation you put yourself work. i know a lot of people in here have probably never experienced or dealt with failure much in their lives, but i have and i learned to just suck it up and try to make the best of the situation you've got yourself in because you realize that you're stuck with it for a while. doesn't do any good to keep harping over what you wish you had done better. you already know that. now it's just about moving forward from here and making the best of it and hoping you can make something of it. it's the easiest thing in the world to look at where Bryce falls short...and yes, that was intentional. everyone knows that and all that is done is beating that horse laying on the ground. what takes some work is trying to see how it can work and if they have done and are doing things to help the situation get better.
