Such a joke. Fitterer traded away the potential league MVP to draft DJ Johnson lol.  CMC probably has more offense than Bruce Young as a RB.

I mean thats the most talented team - QB(whom is legit) in the league.

besides i agreed with getting rid of cmc, 16mill per is insane for any RB including whoever the best one is.

CMC is really a RB/WR though.  He is a tad abnormal.

issue there is simply you drafted a rookie dink and dunker (mortgaged the short term) and traded away the the ideal player to pair him with for development with for essentially nothing to gain offensively.

I can get down with not overpaying a RB in the big picture.  It’s not smart.  It’s also not smart to try to develop a QB with nothing and CMC was already here and is a 18M cap hit in Carolina this year despite not playing here.

Big picture, I don’t think you should pay RBs big money.  But that particular trade was bad given we needed to develop Bryce, what we got for him, the little we did with it, and the fact CMC is still impacting our cap in a trade.

Yes hes a weapon, but his main spot is RB. Spending 16per there is not smart football. Much like herniay did for dam near 20 years, but back on CMC.... I liked him and all, but not 16per like. (bump any thread form when he was given that deal). Besides he never lead them to a above 5 wins. Then theres the mystery of his injuries and NOT playing the final few games(was it 2 different years?)...

I disagreed with the trades for young and dj johnson. The whole deal has been handled poorly, each level- the trade, the support, the fixing, etc. Just a huge mess thats going to take years just to getting back to even...

I honestly thought they would been able to run the ball like the final 8-9 games in 22, that should have taken loads of pressure off. But low and behold the OL is the worst unit *if you factor in giants injuries*. Not to say young would be lighting it up, cause even when the stars aligned....hes played like a rookie and not some #1 savior lifting the whole team to winning.

We already paid him though.   Which is why he is a huge cap hit for us right now despite not playing here.  And we are developing a rookie QB who we mortgaged the future for right now….not in win now mode.  So just from a developmental standpoint of Bryce Young and where we presently are….that deal  and even the inclusion of DJ Moore in the other just don’t really make sense big picture.

the vision and overall whatever this group is doing is just bad.  The front office doesn’t seem to have a plan.  They seem reactionary.

but we shouldn’t of paid CMC when we did.  And I don’t endorse paying RBs in general.  I have said that since we talked of paying DWill.

In all honesty, I think the actual reason we traded CMC was the front office organizing a tank for the #1 overall.   And that didn’t work.   Nothing they do works. But I 100% believe they thought trading CMC guaranteed them the #1 pick in the draft.  They didn’t think or see Wilks pulling off what he did.  He fugged it up lol.

The return value was poor I agree but McCaffrey would not be seeing that level of production here with this oline and he would probably be banged up as well. Not to mention we haven't seen a coach with even half the creativity of Shanahan in many years.

I’m not implying he would do the same thing here…

just pointing out we are attempting to develop a dink and dunker QB….and we traded away one of the top 10 offensive players in the entire NFL (who is built to aid a dink and dunker) for frankly nothing (and taking a huge cap hit this year on him)

and yes, DJ Moore is another example.

everything is just different examples of a poor front office with a poor plan vision

there definitely is a luck/unlucky aspect to some things.  I think most reasonable people thought trading CMC locked in that #1 overall pick in the moment.   But you aren’t this bad for this long…..if you don’t have horrible people in your front office.  It’s not just Tepper.  There are lots of controlling and meddling owners with good talent.  Tepper has bad people in the front office.  We still need to burn this thing down.  Again.

Don’t know why y’all insist on single out #9, who ironically would have much more offense if CMC was here. AT on pace for a career year with 9. It’s a team game. This is a bad offense no matter who the QB is.

    • Did you watch it? I saw stuff that was behind guys and stuff like that I thought it looked pretty average for NFL QBs but I am no PFF metric dog.
    • Haven’t watched the last two until last 3 mins of each game. Just been refreshing the NHL app. Do I change the mojo for tonight?
    • I feel like anyone within the Panthers fanbase no matter where they land on Bryce should agree on this. He's a good kid. He's intelligent. But ultimately is he going to ever be the guy to command a locker room? Obviously none of us can say. But I just don't get any alpha vibes from him whatsoever. Is that a dealbreaker? Not necessarily. Here's the thing though. We had the talk of his generational years ahead of his age leadership trait clubbed over our heads for weeks nonstop before the draft. But after seeing someone like Sam Darnold navigate life as a starting QB I think anyone here should be able to acknowledge homerism there are some similarities to Darnold in terms of personality. That is not what we were sold. All of this takes me back to before the draft. I just can't shake the sense that Stroud just rubbed Tepper or someone the wrong way. Was he too confident? Not subservient enough? Did they feel Bryce was more marketable and media savvy? My gut says these things weighed more into the pick than they should have. If not. Stroud more than likely would have been the selection. What's done is done though. I'm just like you though. I want to see some fire from Bryce at some point this season. But I'm expecting to be disappointed considering his first order of business following one of the worst rookie seasons ever was to detach completely and do nothing. As always. Hoping for the best. I feel like I have to put a disclaimer at the end of this post for the Bryce superfans. I want to see him do well. I don't want this to end in the worst case scenario. There now we can be friends!
