Tomlin is not going to be fired at the end of this season. There's speculation that he could be on the hot seat next season if things continue.

And while nobody would argue he's accomplished a lot, if it comes to that point there will be a reason.

Make no mistake, the Steelers are a mess right now. You've got players openly dogging it on plays and acting in ways that would have been unthinkable with Steeler teams of the past. That's part of why this is even able to be discussed right now.

Also worth noting that a lot of the Steelers success came when the leadership braintrust consisted of Tomlin and Kevin Colbert. The combo of Tomlin and Omar Khan isn't looking nearly as good.

Bottom Line: Never assume that someone who's very successful in one situation is automatically going to be successful in another.

Just ask George Seifert.

Ha! You went on about how a coach is only as good as his QBs and how no coach is winning with Pickett and Rudolph, thereby providing an excuse for Tomlin's down year while claiming he is the type coach Carolina needs. 

If Tomlin can't win with Pickett or Rudolph, both of whom are arguably better than Young, why should anyone believe otherwise?

I think Tomlin is one of the best coaches in the league, and arguably one of the best coaches of the 21st century.  The fact that he's managed the wins they had this year with this Pickett/Mitch mess is honestly impressive.  Not to mention guys like Pickens being a toxic prick.  That being said, I agree with some that he's not going anywhere. 

They've just been stuck in QB hell ever since Big Ben's 2nd to last season.  The QB situation is cramping the team--they need a new franchise QB...and they'll be in a good spot this draft with them likely out of the playoffs.

I mean, they had quality wins beating Cleveland, Baltimore, the Rams, & GB.  I wouldn't say the Raiders, TEN, or Bengals games were anything much, but they managed 7 wins.  That's the "down" year.

We need someone to fix this freaking mess and he has a proven formula for long term success. Instead of wanting our new coach to win us a Super Bowl, how about we get successful foundation first? This team ain't winning poo in the next couple of years, but with right coach we could at least build to winning the NFC South.  He would bring instant credibility (as would Bill) and right now this team has none.

I am trying to imagine NOT wanting a coach with 170 career wins. The Carolina Panthers franchise has just 214 wins over the past 29 seasons LOL

Hes a good coach...gets max outta all his players at all levels... he preaches the shitsburg mantra. physical football at all costs. Its why tj watts fk cam up...its why wazee  was ejected for the season...that physical D has been getting away with that for years. He makes Williams in NO look like a first grader...Big Ben has bailed him out his entire tenure ... Lets see what he does with Pickett... i bet nothing...

      I want the conversations at season's end to be more about what else we need to build onto the foundation to be playoff contenders and less about the fultility of drafting yet another QB and hiring yet another coach because as long as Tepper is the owner, it doesn't matter what this team does.

      yeah I was hoping  that we stayed put & drafted Levis at #9  i even said on here after we foolishly traded up for Bryce Young that I would not be surprised whatsoever if the Bears were picking #1 overall with our pick this year but what ...just saying
