We rebuilt the bears and gave an MVP in his prime to the 49ers

DJ Moore- 92 REC, 1300 Yards, 8 TDS

CMC- 2,023 Yards, 21 TDs

Total: 3,323 Yards, 29 TDs

Panthers 2023 Offense combined:

  • 1,638 rushing yards
  • 3,151 recieving yards
  • 20 TDs

DJ & CMC would make up

  • 145% of our TD offense
  • 70% of our yards from scrimage.

This alone should have Scott F. fired tomorrow.

Take it a step further and include comeback player of the year candidate Baker Mayfield’s numbers. 4k yards 30 TDs….

yeah, we have put the Bears in a tremendous position.  No doubt.  They are still the Bears so they likely fug it up.  But the Bears are essentially where we dream to be.

This would all hurt less if we turned what we got into some talent.  But we kept thinning our margin for error with more trade ups and less draft picks.  No legit WR, no true replacement RB, no new strs on defense, and after all of that, still a gigantic question mark at QB.

Can't wait to see what frequently injured player we overpay for in 2026.

watch Scott Fitterer hang around and decide he needs to lock up boy Jaycee Horn up early after Denver does it for Patrick Surtain this offseason.  That would totally be a Fitterer move.   Just imagine the worst possible thing and your odds of being right get higher.

And if we go back to other threads, we will find some of the same people clamoring about how CMC can’t stay healthy…get what you can. Now that he’s in a legit offense, and on a team with a good medical staff (I truly think ours is the worst in the league)…he is what we knew he was.

DJ was the sacrifice for a QB, which we all knew we can’t win games without. I’d much rather him go, then Derrick Brown.

And just like Bryce is being labeled a bust, he’s shown that he has the skill. So, instead of starting over. Let’s hire competent people that can build this team, and field a legit offense around him.

DJ was locked up already and was the piece that actually matched with developing a rookie QB.

Burns was the no brainer.  Essentially a win now piece on a team entering full rebuild fixated on grooming up a young QB, he wasn't locked up, with a contract dispute on the horizon.

It's just a bad front office.  No vision and in denial about what needed to be done.  They have been claiming this hybrid rebuild/win now mantra for years.  We needed a legit rebuild the day the Ron/Cam era ended.

Why would we have to choose between the two? You would keep both and deal Burns if anything. We're finding out the hard way you can't just draft a WR in the first two rounds and profit immediately.

He has?

Not to mention, Bears had a huge need at pass rusher (as we all saw when they traded for Sweat).  And the report was they wanted Burns (one of him, Moore, or DB)...and Burns at his highest value in his career, at the 2nd most valuable position in football.  Hell, could've kept 2025's 2nd if Burns was included and probably added an extra late-round pick from the Bears into the mix.

To that last point, still don't know why Fitterer didn't try to add some late round flyers from Chicago.  The teams on our end of these mega trades always tend to hedge their bets by getting some of that back-end change.

Another fun factoid, the two teams that were sharing our company in rebuild mode (Colts and Texans)...well, they're playing each other to get into the playoffs this next weekend.

First year coaches, have had their fair share of injuries, poor OL play, nonexistent running games at times, and injured QBs.

Coaching coaching coaching.

Colts have played basically the entire season with their backup QB.  Man I sure am glad we didn't hire that Steichen guy.

As someone that runs a business, I’ve seen plenty of people that didn’t interview well but were absolutely monsters in the field. Interviewing to me is good for 3 things and 3 things only. 1.  Did they show up early/on time. 2. Do they have character/integrity. 3. Appearance.

You will know in your gut if they can do the job Based on their resume.  Did they have multiple jobs with different companies in the same capacity or did they work their way up with the same company, multiple companies, or show tenure.

Interviewing is one of these most overrated or analyzed tools to finding what you need.

The Good new is, we are projected to have the most cap space by 2026, obviously depending on who we sign (Burns, Brown, Luvu..) at $254 MM

It seems like every year the cap space is going to clear up but never does. In 2026 we will be talking how much cap space we will have in 2027.

    • If they screwed it up, it’s one pick. Kind of like if we’d taken Levis maybe, at 9 in 2023. That is their worst case.  Would you rather do that and hit or miss, or what we did?
    • He is a QB, on a rookie deal and Cousins is old coming off an achilles injury. Which QB they got is the part that is highly debatable if it was good. Yeah they could have used that on more tallent but Cousins doesn't win in the postseason so it wouldn't matter anyways. Chances are good they take the NFCS regardless this year or it goes back to a Bucs team that just breaks .500.
