He's under contract two more seasons and next season is a big cap hit.  He'd have to be traded.

Ya I took his comment more as Tepper is a dick and may eat the dead cap cause he failed Tepper prodigal son… that said I don’t see Thielen going anywhere, the dude has got some money coming to him next season.

He may be the only person on this team to have earned the right to that paycheck.

Let him go and well, you've got nothing to build on. If Fitt stays, it's almost guaranteed he'll be traded away for a handful of magic beans or pocket lint.

One day, he will all of a sudden get old and be unable to compete out there. This year, he was surrounded in the receivers room by a bunch of 21-25 year olds who suddenly got old and were unable to compete out there.

There's more firewood to cut before we think about even imagining letting him go.

He is speaking like he doesn't know what the future holds, and like a lot of things are up in the air, including his presence in Carolina. He's not saying that he wants to go somewhere else, but realizes the reality of his and this franchises situation. If anything, he's just saying the right things which a pro's pro is going to do.
