Do you want a Dan Campbell (leader of men) or Mike McDaniel (idiot savant) style of coach?

It’s becoming more and more apparent there’s two types of coaches in the NFL

Leader of men:

Campbell, Tomlin, Harbaugh, Ryan, Pierce, Vrabel

Idiot savants X’ and O’s type:

Mcdaniel, O’Connell, Shanahan, McVay, LaFleur

Personally I think the NFL is moving towards the idiot savant style coaches who rely on the roster to be made of players that execute their gameplan. But when the tough gets going these coaches don’t have that grit ability to get the max out of their players, they and their team fold (McDaniels and Dolphins easily come to mind).

With where this franchise is at right now with personnel, I’d say this franchise needs more of a leader of men style coach then a X’s and O’s tactician which is why we won’t get a Ben Johnson style of coach

Depends on the coach. All of them have positives and negatives. McDaniels' negative is his immaturity. I don't know how that plays out long term because it can improve even with his base personality.

I'll take a caoch that can adapt and change over time because when they stop trying it's a sign that their time is up. McDaniels might need a Reid type move next to help him take that step so Miami might not be getting the best of him.

I want someone who wins.

Honestly don't give a rat's ass whether they do so while acting like John Wayne or Jerry Lewis.

I totally agree, just need a coach that will produce.

Funny though, the millennials and Gen Z’s are thinking who the f___ is this John Wayne and Jerry Lewis.

    • fug the dirty ass pistons and the refs. Tough to lose the streak but incredible showing from the players, the fans and coach Lee. This was a very important game for the development of this young team. The culture has changed. I’m confident the boys can beat the Hawks short handed and get things right back on track after the all star break
    • That was great.  BTW Sumer Sports is where we got Eager.     From a real zoomed out perspective we could maybe have a great draft and sign a high profile FA and all the stuff we have seen Morgan do but the Icky thing is a major monkey wrench.    if Bryce plays like he did vs LA Rams Wild Card and a couple of his other top games, and we get a great draft and FA, maybe we get to 9-10 wins.   Want to bet?    I don’t bet just saying. If I did I wouldn’t bet on that all happening. It could, and could even be better but you are betting that QB being what his fans claim he is, every week. Not just sometimes.  All 4 quarters in at least ten to 15 games. Good luck.
    • This game was the exact reason I was pissed when the Hornets didn't trade for Jaren Jackson Jr. Have been saying all year Moussa is going to get dominated by any center with any ounce of muscle and skill.  That was put on full display tonight.  He didn't score, and had a -13 (+/-) rating.  Meanwhile, Duren was on his way to a 20 & 10 game and a +15 rating before Moussa got them both ejected to stop the embarrassment he was getting handed. Detroit -2.5 was easy money.
