Good point.  Moton getting $30m as a RT and Burns is more valuable that 2 first rounders but not worth what Moton, the RT, is making?   Not sure I see the logic.

If recent reports are true, it’s probably more about the front office restructuring and bringing in someone that can wear multiple hats e.g. personnel, contracts, analytics, etc. Thus the interest in Halaby from Philly, Tilis from KC and Matteo from Baltimore. All from successful organization and considered up-and-comers in League circles. I’m good with Tilis or Matteo.

Yeah, he really put Robbie, Ian and Donte in their place. Houston and Sanders probably sent him an card after the news.

All I know is that we signed off on Darnold’s 5th year option and if he was the cap/contract guy, he failed miserably. There was no reason to do the fifth year. Worst case scenario is that we found a gem for cheap and would have to pay $3-6M (can’t recall exact #s) more to franchise him. Best case scenario, he fails like most of us expected and we save $18-21M. Any good cap/contract guy would have known. The “risk” of not doing the 5th year was negligible if you actually found your future QB.

That’s very misleading. Moton’s 5 year deal averages $17M per year not $30M. That’s also Moton’s cap number, not average salary, and it’s high because we pushed a ton of cap to the backend of the deal. If we sign Burns, he’ll be getting a lot more per year than Moton, almost double.

Agree.  It was a texbook no risk move to skip the 5th year.  If he's great, you pay him $40 million a year with a silly grin on your face knowing how many draft picks you just saved.

Same page. Just like Fitterer, you often hear this guy was good in the huddle, but the proof isn’t really there.

$17.8 average on that 4 year deal Link. Suleiman decided to push most of the money back into the last 2 years because he could just make another deal and push more dead cash to another year. If he would have given Burns a deal similar in structure then it's like Burns having a cap hit of 60 million his last 2 years...

Sorta misleading.  If the Moton deal was back loaded to cost nearly $30m in 2024, and you anticipated Burns needing a new deal in 2024, it really focuses on their salary timeline--not to compare the overall contracts.  I would have paid Moton $17m over the 4 years and not tried to back load it.

      You said the team goes limp-dick in the playoffs because RBA won't change. (Note that you did not suggest what changes you think he needs to make). You then stated "Rod will never change anything." I can only infer that the team continues to fall out of the playoffs because RBA doesn't/won't change. Therefore, if RBA will never change anything, the team will fall out of the playoffs. I mean, that is literally the line of logic you posted. So, I'm not sure what you're suggesting, since I don't have a crystal ball.
