In a deep qb class should the panther take one day 3?

I don't like our odds of drafting a QB who will make an impact on day 3. Not when there are so many needs we could more easily address with that pick.

The 1st pick in 2025 is what's TBD. Bryce is either going to make us competitive next year or put us in the spot to draft his replacement.

This.

No to picking a QB. Worry about developing the young QB they already have on the roster instead of another one plus Young. There's too many holes on the roster and too few draft picks. Use the picks to improve the overall quality of the rest of the roster, especially since they're going with Young anyway.

The very reason why this draft is going to suck for me personally. I don't disagree with  one thing you stated, but it's not what I want or would do given the chance to make that decision.

either we spend this year focusing one putting all the needed pieces around BY for him to succeed, or we have the team ready for the next guy.

but this year is all about surrounding the QB, not switching out the QB.

It's about a pipeline.  The one thing we NEVER learn as an organization.  That pipeline only stops when you have your perennial Pro Bowl, All-Pro or Future HOF locked down for the next 10 years.  Until then, waiting for the current guy to completely flame out (or trade or bolt in FA) and THEN trying to replace him is why we are in this endless cycle of misery.

All teams should absolutely take a flyer on a late-round QB if they think the value is there. Those picks are dart throws anyway and what better score than to find a quality QB, even if just as a backup, that late in the draft.

Seems to work for Green Bay who never gets stuck be in QB purgatory.  The Panthers will never learn.  Say what you will about Purdy, but that was a total flyer pick when the 49ers did not need a QB.  Revisionist history may say otherwise, but at that time they did not.

The only reason purdy wasnt cut and got reps was because Jimmy G was hurt.  Once they saw him in practice then they knew if push came to shove he would do.  If jimmy go was getting the second team reps purdy is probably cut.  Crazy how things work out

I would not draft any QB this draft. Let Bryce either get it and become something good or lead us to a high draft pick so we can draft his replacement next season.

Problem being Penix and Nix would be vying for QB1 in next year's class.  Ewers would be QB3.  See the tragic irony there?

    • Him and also Igo allowed to photograph practices was so much better than these cheesy 20 min fluff videos they put out occasionally. Bill Voth too before he signed on and then left
    • Whatever they're using, chuck it in the trash. Grant you, the odds would be rather dire but 0%? Even someone like me could conjure a hypothetical where we could win and - as such - the odds would not be zero. 1. Most of our offseason moves end up working. Better O-line play, BY has more GB 2023 like games. Run game becomes top dozen. We constantly win TOP which keeps our defense fresh. 2. We're in the NFC South. A ticket to the playoffs only requires winning the division, even with a losing record which we've done before. 3. Playoffs is a lot about matchups. You get a team that limped in and/or lost their QB late. Or you get the Cowboys and they beat themselves like they usually do. Or we simply get opponents that are quite suspectible to what we do best. Obviously, there's a ton of luck involved but given how Canales seems to want something that may be a reminder of John Fox Panthers football, well, that type of thing actually works better in the playoffs.  4. And of course, the Super Bowl. Yeah, you could get the Chiefs or who knows, maybe the Texans make a run. We inexplicably won against them last season. Maybe we somehow simply have their number. Yes, all of this is very much a long shot but at least for me, the biggest factor is "Can you get in the playoffs in the first place and have the stars align?" Play with the variables enough and you'll find a path.
