My question is why is he not a backup QB?

Are we seriously blaming his personality as to why he's not a backup?

You don't have to play him. So why are these teams still saying no to Cam. Cam as a backup is a good option to have imo

Ask him

He isn't. That shoulder is shot. Were that not the case, he'd still be an NFL star.

This. Cam cannot consistently throw a ball far enough to be an NFL QB. Teams know this and it would severely limit his effectiveness. He knows this and is not trying to be a backup QB.

Buffalo perhaps. Not at Atlanta. He would just make it difficult for whomever is their underwhelming starter.

How is he making it difficult if he's a backup?

You're basically saying Cam doesn't have a job because teams simply don't want him because of his name and personality. It's just weird why Cam is the only QB who gets viewed this way.

Even Mayfield got a backup job and he was just as big as Cam peronality wise.

Difficult because people will be calling for Cam.

    • Aggressive runner, hits the hole fast, and runs angry.  Just a few yards shy of the single game record for the team.  Absolutely phenomenal performance.  If the gameplan hadn't become weirdly pass heavy for the 3rd and first half of the 4th quarters he might have been flirting with 300.
    • I felt that way before the season started, but I'm sorry, he's already proven he isn't that guy, I don't need to learn anything more about him. He threw the ball 30 times today and could only throw for 198 yards, which was his 2nd best yardage game this year, he's just not the guy. Which means this season has already moved onto the 2nd most important thing going into this season after evaluating Bryce, and that's developing our best young players. You don't do that by only throwing 8 of your 30 passes to your best player who is still only a rookie.  Pepper him with targets and help develop him so he's ready to take a huge leap next year when we get a real HC and QB to get him the ball.
    • Every win comes from a non-sustainable source.  As CRA mentioned, Penix absolutely imploding against ATL, and then today, defense finally clicked and looked the best they’ve looked in a long time (and still have up 24 points lol) and Rico ran for 200+ yards.  We’re not going to get that every week, especially against good teams, which neither Miami or ATL are.  Both MIA and ATL are bad teams and Bryce still couldn’t get it together.  The defense (and team) had to overcome 14 points because of his turnovers again.  That was not even an average QB performance.  We are winning in spite of him.
