Production wise he is the same as Burns, a better run defender but just older. If he gives two solid years then he likely equals what Burns would have done the rest of his time here. Just got to make pick 39 count now

clowney played over 650 snaps last year and i think houston was under 400; clowney is still a full-time edge that is good against the run

It's hard to remain optimistic based on the last 5 years.  Too many coaches and too many QBs. 

We let Burns go to NYG and freed up 24 million.  With that 24 Million we addressed three positions on the defense.  Jewell, Robinson and Clowney for basically the same price.   So we gave up Burns, swapped 5ths and got pick 39 and 166 and Jewell, Robinson and Clowney.  That IMO makes the Burns deal pretty damn good.
