If someone is offering us a first next year then yeah you heavily consider and likely take that. But that does seem like a bit of a too good to be true scenario.

I'm just not keen to buy into trading down in general after seeing the aftermath of Fitterer's wheeling and dealing. Just about everyone loved that poo at the time. Now his former best friend is our GM.

I'm more than okay with just taking whatever top talent is available at our respective picks if that's what we do.

All mock drafts are wrong, but they do give you a measure of insight. Here is Brendan Donahue's mock:

He is apparently more accurate than most and has us trading up to 21 to draft Brian Thomas.

What?  The first and second round are on different days.  We have the first pick of the 2nd round.  Panthers can trade the pick the day of the 2nd round before it officially starts.  Teams will know who is available at #33 once Night One is over.

If the Panthers plan on trading #33, then I think they will (and would be wise) to do it before night two of the draft starts.  That way they can strategize with their new draft position or negotiate with more teams.

Gotcha. You mean when we're literally in the clock at #33. I think everyone already understands that. What everyone else is talking about is that we're effectively "on the clock" as soon as the #32 pick is made even though it will be the next day before we are actually "on the clock".

This. People are underestimating the value of pick 33. That's a fugin first rounder basically. Somebody from the first round is going to fall to 33. Trading that away just for an extra mid-2nd next year is so damn stupid to me.

It’d be nice if all people rated as 1st round talent, panned out. If someone falls there is often a good reason. I am wary.  And please no more fuging trade ups into the first round. 

If there is any trading up, don’t use future picks.

      I mean I just don't understand the argument. Baker and Sam both have been pro bowl QBs post their time here. And you just said yourself that is due to him having a damn good roster around him and they are well coached. You're even saying the bad baker is still there somewhere, but he is in a good organization with good roster and coaching that they are getting the best out of him. Why does Baker and Sam get all that benefit of the doubt but when it comes to Bryce it must be a BY9 problem, not an org or team problem?  Hell I got a guy below you arguing with me that Chark/Hurst/Mingo sucked because Bryce wouldn't throw them open. It's ridiculous how far the stretch goes.

      Correct.  It’s really hard to get open in the NFL when opposing defenses gameplan and cheat coverage/routes on all your players because they know your QB can’t make certain throws/plays.   magically no one that comes to Carolina can get open or make plays with the ball in their hands…..it’s like there is one singular common dominator to it all.  BY makes playing defense way too easy.   NFL players are too good to allow one side to cheat coverage and not respect all the potential threats of a route  so you can dial up a great play.  But if corners and safeties just cheat coverage and know X and Y happening on route/threats….getting open gets hard when they just play it one way.  Getting open has a lot to do with the different threats a WR can pose on a given play.

      Kinda depends how you look at it both were 3rd round draft pics.  Nico was nothing before stroud and tank came in with stroud.  If both were on the panthers would young have them doing well and starting or would their stats be low.  I really dont know the answer to that.  None of the panthers wrs have left and did well either but personally i feel neither of nico or tank would do much on the panthers.
