Did we not critique the play calling in here? It was awful. This was the worst offense we’ve ever had. Everyone was criticizing our shitty offense. I’m glad he at least acted quickly. We needed a new coach and GM. I’m still not happy with the GM choice as there’s been nothing good in house from 2018 to 2023.

If I had to choose between a random huddler and Tepper to call plays for my make believe team it wouldn’t be Tepper, just sayin

At the end of the day we have to concede one major point no matter how much we agree Reich and the outgoing staff were clearly not the answer. Having a starting QB who was clearly phsyically limited as a passer and not being allowed to bench him would have doomed many coaches current and former. That is why Canales has such an uphill battle ahead of him. It's that time of year where memories get hazy and hopium is abundant but the truth still has to be acknowledged.

Well we didn’t have a top coaching staff, we’ve had the worst coaching in the league for the past 4 years.

Do you expect it to stop with our current staff? Tepper passed on Belicheck because he knew Bill wouldn’t stand for that crap. I’m on record before we even went on the coaching search that Tepper would never hire someone he couldn’t influence. I sincerely hope for the good of our franchise it stops.

Would Reid? Tomlin? Carrol?  Harbaugh? Parcells, etc ever be ok with the owner critiquing plays?

We’re trying to attract and keep good coaches and players. I hope he sees this and stops with the Mickey Mouse ish.

I think as an owner he is allowed to critique and get explanations for play calling post-game.  If anything, I'm glad he is interested in learning more about the game.  I'm sure most if not all owners do this.

Trying to gather an understanding why you feel this is helpful. What would be the purpose of this since his football acumen has shown to be much lower than his business acumen?

Exactly, Canales is brought in to be a quarterback whisperer. He wouldn't have made a sideways move, so head coaching job and money it is. It's a lot to ask of one guy but he couldn't turn down the money. If it doesn't work out he still gets paid, I'm most interested in to what lengths do they exhaust the Bryce Young experiment if it's not working, that will tell us more about the stubbornness of Tepper than anything

Fantastic application of a strawman argument right here.

That was really just a light hearted joke, with some truth in it at the same time

I’m not arguing on the internet with anyone lol I’ve stated my 2 cents that’s all there is for me

but you may need to take a break, it’s not that serious

I think 2.5 seasons of the Rhule experiment shook up Tepper to the point he felt he needed to direct Reich into whom to hire and then feel the need to sift through data and have conversations about play calling

And we got worse when he decided to get more involved

Huddle: the play calling sucks, fire this coach

Also Huddle: How dare the owner use resources to come to same conclusion.....with some unrelated nonsense about owner vs fans calling plays

    • I’m just not seeing it. Falcons are better than the previous two teams we faced and the Panthers unlike most teams do not really play better at home than on the road
    • I don’t know about this one. Looking at his touches in week 2, there are still 3 plays I can find where he had an easy 2-3 yards upfield and somehow turned it to a race to the sideline for no gain or negative yardage. He was putting us in 2nd and 11 vs 2nd and 7. It doesn’t seem like much, but an NFL WR has to know to get upfield. You will break one eventually.
    • Despite what reports say, I still think Tepper is influencing football decisions.  We certainly heard about this during the Reich short era...ie - the Monday morning meetings.  There are too many consistent inconsistencies still going on to not think he is still too much involved.  New coaches, new GMs....same results.  The offense looks the same under Canales as it did under Rhule, Brown and Reich. The only time the offense has looked different was when Wilkes moved to a power run game for 6-7 games.  But it was clear Wilkes would not have wanted BY....probably a big reason why he was not retained.   The defense was actually better under Snow but he had better players and it was not a great defense.  But the defense has gotten much worse as they lost key players (Luvu, Chinn, Burns & etc) but did not replace them with even average talent.  The defense was never really strong since the 3-4 defense was pushed on Rivera by Tepper. I think Tepper pushed for BY too.  Now Canales is stuck with a QB that does not fit his system.  The last 7-years of Panthers football can be traced back to when Tepper bought the team.
