Davis was literally drafted to be a Spy for Vick twice a year - they developed him from there.

True. I think people forget that he was almost viewed the way Chinn was around here aside from being an answer to Vick.

Just didn't know where to put him. Too big for a safety and too small for an LB at that time, but we tried him and listed him at both.

For a while we just didn't think he'd stick around. He was fast and he could hit and that was about the extent of it.

It took a few years but we eventually got it figured out. Just need patience.

Local espn and sports talk shows are roasting this pick today. All said Wilson, Butkus award winner should have been the pick. Even Luke endorsed the kid.

This reeks of DJ Johnson last year.

Are you saying the local sports radio guys wanted the local guy 😀

I think he was flagged as a major injury risk by a lot of teams.

mac and bone were borderline unlistenable today.  I had to cut it off halfway through their draft "evaluation"  There is being a homer and happy about the draft and then there is that.  Whatever over the top balls in mouth analysis you want to call it but it was not rational.

To be honest I think beyond the injuries there is concern he has peaked as a LB. He is great as is but coupled with the ware and tear he already has on his body I can see why a lot of teams didn't want to risk a high pick on him. I do not fault anyone either way.

Full disclosure I probably wouldnt have blown a high pick on wilson, but if last year was his peak he is still going to be a damn good linebacker for pitt.  Dude was a master player caller and simply all over the field.  The not having an acl is curious as hell because he was unstoppable last season

And don’t you dare text in and tell them any Bryce criticism.

EDIT: as far as LBs ands Wilson, man I would love to have him but those injuries are part of the deal. They are scary.

I don’t think this guy is near as unfinished.

edit: a team Captain at Kentucky as a Junior. That’s getting a quality person. Which if he can’t play won’t matter but let’s see. I think he looks pretty good.

  • 1 month later...

I’m at the On3 Elite event this week with the top high school football recruits in the country.
One guy I had on my podcast is Wallace’s brother. We talk a little about his big bro. I also got to speak with his dad for a while. He’s wearing a Panthers hat, even at a formal dinner. Respect!

    • I really appreciate Bill explaining his methodology here because that gives interested parties a chance to try and recreate the results themselves. I believe that it's safe to assume that despite emphasis being placed on WRs that Chuba Hubbard is one of the Panthers' top-5 weapons. Considering targets, yardage, receptions, etc... Adam Thielen and Xavier Legette are also on the list. Jalen Coker's success might have snuck him in there as well. I can't draw a conclusion on who #5 is though. I've narrowed it down to Diontae Johnson, David Moore, Ja'Tavion Sanders, and possibly Rico Dowdle if they're taking into account his production for the Cowboys in 2024.
    • Unfortunately business is business especially when there are large sums of money on the table. Goes the same for player and ownership. Does not make it right either way.  Why would he not want to play for the niners? Closer to home with a team that has a chance of delivering a SB trophy.
    • I don’t know if it’s him bad mouthing his former situation in public or my pettiness but either way I’m not a fan. Dude was on playoff teams getting paid millions to entertain. I’m not better that because and I am better than that. You don’t bad mouth your former employer in public. Esp after getting over paid and two, poor little Russian baby didn’t get the playing spot he wanted. Rod had him exactly where is was supposed to be.  He had a mean lip check and did defend our players. Specifically the devils game around Christmas where is our Haula on his ass. Cool. Thank you. But don’t talk poo about us. Because it make you look like Haula.    “need to get as far away as possible”. fug off. Didn’t see Burnsy bad mouthing and his play dropped off too.    sorry, but Orlov doesn’t get a pass from me. See you twice a year…
