Xavier Legette wasn't happy with himself, which could be good news

We are the Panthers.  We don’t care if people can read as long as they are athletic.

Not even athletic really.  Just a long strider who is fast in a straight line.  Hopefully he gets it figured out how to maximize his talents though.  You would think after doing absolutely nothing his first 4 years in college, he would come out working his ass off to show his 5th year wasn't a fluke.

This sounds like the typical Carolina WR drafted:

  • Devin Funchese
  • TMJ
  • Mingo
  • Kerry Colbert
  • Kelvin Benjamin
  • Shi Smith
  • terry Godwin (Who?)
  • Joe Adams
  • Pilares
  • David Gettis
  • Armanti Edwards
  • Brandon LeFell
  • Dwayne Jarret
  • Ryne Robinson
  • Walter Young
  • Donald Hayes
  • Rae Carruth
  • Donnell Baker

Only players we have hit on at wr are in this order:
  • Steve Smith ( released by Gettleman, signed with BAL)
  • Muhhamed (Did not pay, went to bears)
  • DJ Moore (Traded for Bryce)
  • Curtis Samuel (Did not resign, went to WAS)
  • You can make a case for Lafell, Kelvin at times, and Lafell at times. Xavier Lagette TBD...

We have a 18% hit rate on WR for All time. Should be studied.

Some of those are later picks, so it's not really fair to throw them in the same conversation as 1st and 2nd rounders.  But yeah it's pretty bad.

How does that compare to other teams?

    • After last season, it was the same question. And the answer most people came to was "If he doesn't make the playoffs, he's gone." He made the playoffs. No matter how it was done, we made it to the playoffs. He's safe. He's going to have a chance to keep working this out, even if next season isn't a playoff one.  I think we'll do better next year than we did this season. There's something being built here.
    • The NBA is a very fickle league. Kon is one of the hottest rookies in years and beyond just his play on the court he is a very steady competitor and that translates to the rest of the team. That has been a glaring absence with the culture of this franchise through the bulk of the LaMelo Ball years that's just being completely blunt and realistic. The enigma of LaMelo Ball is he is entering year 6 and still either red hot or ice cold. We need him to find that sweet spot. Logic dictates the Hornets will want to see this core again next year. But the clock is beyond ticking at this point. It's put up or shut up. Especially considering what the Thunder managed to do recently. I'm hopeful they can keep these wins rolling in and get some much needed playoff experience under their belts which will help substantially.
    • I think as long as the Panthers are competitive with Canales they should keep him. Pepper needs to repair his/the teams image as a place prized free agents aren't hesitant to consider. Just dont do any crazy poo for a few years.
